Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend (but advertised as a limited release) is the biographical sports drama Young Woman and the Sea directed by Joachim Rønning and starring Daisy Ridley, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Christopher Eccleston, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia and Glenn Fleshle. The film’s original music is composed by Amelia Warner (Mr. Malcolm’s List, Wild Mountain Thyme, Mary ShelleyMum’s List). Also opening wide is the comedy drama Ezra directed by Tony Goldwyn and starring Bobby Cannavale, Robert De Niro, Rose Byrne, William Fitzgerald, Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg. Carlos Rafael Rivera (The Queen’s Gambit, Lessons in Chemistry, GodlessA Walk Among the Tombstones, Griselda, Hacks) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released an original song from the new Walt Disney World and Disneyland attraction Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Special Spice written by Grammy Award-winning musician, singer, songwriter and producer PJ Morton and performed by Anika Noni Rose who is reprising her role of Princess Tiana from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ animated feature The Princess and the Frog. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Evgueni Galperine & Sacha Galperine (The Undoing, LovelessScenes from a Marriage, Radioactive, Wizard of Lies, The FamilyHappening). Netflix Music has released the Good Day Sunshine Theme from the new Netflix limited series Eric. The theme song of the fiction children’s television show of the same name is written and produced by Tim Minchin (Matilda the Musical, Groundhog Day The Musical, Back to the Outback) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Perseverance Records has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for the world premiere recordings of two unreleased scores written by Academy Award-winning composer James Horner (Titanic, Braveheart, Avatar, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, Aliens, A Beautiful Mind, Legends of the Fall). The titles include Oliver Stone’s 1981 horror film The Hand starring Michael Caine & Andrea Marcovicci and Peter Yates’ 1983 drama The Dresser starring Albert Finney & Tom Courtenay. Among the key people involved in the project, which is supported and endorsed by the Horner Estate and the composer’s widow Sara, are orchestrator Nikiforos Chrysoloras, blaster beam inventor Craig Huxley, pianist Gloria Cheng and conductor, orchestrator & arranger Matt Dunkley. Universal Music has released a new soundtrack album for the Channel 4 & Peacock original series We Are Lady Parts. The soundtrack features the songs from the first two seasons of the show performed by the titular band Lady Parts, including original tracks written by show creator Nida Manzoor, Shez Manzoor, Sanya Manzoor & Benjamin Fregin, as well several cover versions. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the western The Dead Don’t Hurt. The album features the film’s original music composed by Viggo Mortensen who also directed and stars in the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 31. A CD version will be coming out in the coming months and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
