Premiering today is the AMC original series Mayfair Witches developed by Esta Spalding & Michelle Ashford based on Anne Rice’s best-selling trilogy and starring Alexandra Daddario, Jack Huston, Harry Hamlin and Tongayi Chirisa. The show’s original music is composed by Will Bates (The Magicians, Unbelievable, Away, The Path, I Origins, The Looming Tower). Premiering on Thursday, January 12, is the HBO Max animated series Velma developed by Mindy Kaling & Charlie Grandy based on characters from the Scooby-Doo franchise and starring Kaling, Constance Wu, Glenn Howerton and Sam Richardson. Craig DeLeon (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Music, End of the Road, The Last Survivors) has composed the show’s original music. The British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) today revealed the longlists for the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2023. This longlisting round was introduced in 2021 resulting in three rounds of voting. Round One voting produced the longlists in all categories announced today. Round Two voting, to determine the nominations, is now open to BAFTA’s voting members and will close on January 13. The nominations for the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2023 will be announced on January 19 and the ceremony will take place on February 19.
