Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action thriller The Equalizer 3 directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, Eugenio Mastrandrea and David Denman. The film’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Emancipation, The Affair, Wonder, Ray Donovan, The Good Shepherd). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in around 400 theaters today is the thriller The Good Mother directed by Miles Joris-Peyrafitte (Dreamland, As You Are) and starring Hilary Swank, Olivia Cooke, Dilone, Jack Reynor and Hopper Penn. Joris-Peyrafitte has also composed the film’s original music with Erick Slick (of the rock band Dr. Dog). No soundtrack album has been announced. The Newton Brothers (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, Life of Crime, Oculus, The Midnight Club) have recently been recording their music for the upcoming horror movie Five Nights at Freddy’s. The film is directed by Emma Tammi (The Wind) and stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Mary Stuart Masterson, Kat Conner Sterling, Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard. The Blumhouse production is based on the video game series created by Scott Cawthon and follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, when he realizes the night shift won’t be so easy to make it through. Heather Headley’s ‘With You’ Cover from Netflix’s ‘Sweet Magnolias’ Released

Netflix Music has released the cover version of the song With You from the third season of the Netflix original series Sweet Magnolias. The track (originally written by Stephen Schwartz for the stage musical Pippin) is performed by singer/songwriter and actress Heather Headley (who stars in the show as Helen Decatur) and is now available to stream/download on most major digital music services, including Amazon. Composer Stephen McKeon (Evil Dead Rise, Pilgrimage, The Hole in the Ground, Queen & Country, Norm of the North) is reteaming with directors Christine Molloy & Joe Lawlor on the Irish psychological thriller Baltimore. The film is written and directed by Molloy & Lawlor and stars Imogen Poots, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and . The movie is set in the 1970s and tells the true story of Rose Dugdale, a young heiress who rebelled against her English aristocratic upbringing to volunteer with the Irish Republican Army. Dickon Hinchliffe (The Lost Daughter, Winter’s Bone, Locke, Leave No Trace, Out of the Furnace,  Last Chance Harvey) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama Daddio. The film is written and directed by Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay with This) and stars Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn. The movie follows a woman who steps into a New York cab at the airport, driven by a curbside philosopher who engages her in conversation which starts in small talk then gets bigger, deeper, and riskier as he steers her to her destination. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the German Netflix original series Dear Child (Liebes Kind). The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Last of Us, The Book of Life, The Motorcycle Diaries) and Juan Luqui (Wild Life, Monsterland, The Fight). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. Check out the composers’ title track after the jump. A vinyl edition will be coming out later this year and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Dear Child is written and directed by Isabel Kleefeld & Julian Pörksen and stars Kim Riedle, Naila Schuberth, Haley Louise Jones, Sammy Schrein, Hans Löw, Birge Schade, Justus von Dohnányi, Julika Jenkins and Seraphina Maria Schweiger. The 6-part thriller is based on Romy Hausmann’s novel of the same title and centers on woman who escapes a highly secured home, where she has lived for over ten years in complete isolation with two children. National Geographic Documentary Films announced today that Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, The Outsider, The Gift, The Staircase, Enemy, Boy Erased) have written the original score for the upcoming documentary The Mission. The film is directed by Amanda McBaine & Jesse Moss (Boys State) and centers on the shocking 2018 event, when a young American missionary, John Chau, was killed by arrows while attempting to contact one of the world’s most isolated Indigenous peoples on remote North Sentinel Island. Mark Mothersbaugh’s ‘Halloweentown’ Score to Be Released

Walt Disney Records will release the first-ever soundtrack album for the 1998 Disney Channel original movie Halloweentown directed by Duwayne Dunham and starring Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Judith Hoagand and Joey Zimmerman. The album features the film’s original score composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street, The Croods: A New Age, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Mitchells vs. the Machines). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 1 (click here to stream/download). A limited edition LP is available to order on the Disney Music Emporium website.
