Clint Mansell has written the music for a new spot promoting Sony’s new 3D television. The spot, entitled Two Worlds, is directed by Arev Manoukian and features the poem “That’s What I Heard You Say”, written and read by Leonard Cohen. Mansell recorded his music for the project at Air Studios in London. ‘Will’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the British drama Will. The album features the original score from the film composed by Nigel Clarke and Michael Csányi-Wills (The Little Vampire, The Thief Lord). The music was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and Choir in Abbey Road’s famous Studio One. The soundtrack will be released on iTunes on November 1, 2011. A physical version of the album is also coming out in Europe on the same day. Will based on the historic “Miracle of Istanbul” is directed by Ellen Perry and stars Bob Hoskins, Damian Lewis, Perry Eggelton and Kristian Kiehling. ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked’ Soundtrack Announced

Atlantic Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the family movie sequel Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked. The album features the songs from the movie performed by The Chipmunks & The Chipettes. The soundtrack will be released on November 15, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all songs on the album can be checked out below. None of Mark Mothersbaugh’s orginal score from the film is included on the album. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked is directed by Mike Mitchell and stars Jason Lee, David Cross, Jenny Slate, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate. 20th Century Fox will release the movie on December 16. ‘Puss in Boots’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will be releasing the soundtrack album for Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots. The album features the original score from composer Henry Jackman who collaborated with Rodrigo y Gabriela on the movie as previously reported on this page. The soundtrack will be released on October 24, 2011 and will be available as a digital release on Amazon. A physical release has been announced overseas, but no word yet on a domestic release. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. Puss in Boots is directed by Chris Miller (Shrek the Third) and features the voice talent of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Billy Bob Thornton. Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the remake of Footloose directed by Craig Brewer and stars Kenny Wormaid, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid and Andie MacDowell. Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs by artists including Blake Shelton, Zac Brown, The Smashing Pumpkins, Victoria Justice & Hunter Hayes and Big & Rich. Also opening wide is the horror prequel The Thing directed by Matthijs van Heijingen Jr. and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen and Joel Edgerton. Marco Beltrami has written the music for the film. A soundtrack album featuring Beltrami’s score has been released by Varese Sarabande earlier this week. Brian Tyler is set to reunite with director D.J. Caruso on the upcoming indie drama The Goats. The movie written and directed by Caruso is based on the young adult novel by Brock Cole and stars Chandler Canterbury and Annalise Basso as kids at summer camp who fall victims to a prank that leaves them stranded at Goat Island. Val Kilmer, Radha Mitchell and Kate Maberly are co-starring in the film produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Geyer Kosinski (School for Scoundrels). Fox Music has released a soundtrack for the comedy drama The Big Year. The album includes the score by composer Theodore Shapiro. The soundtrack is currently available exclusively on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips from the score. The Big Year is directed by David Frankel, for which Shapiro has previously scored The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me. Attic Records’ Cinewax division will be releasing a soundtrack album for the documentary Project Nim. The album includes the score by composer Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter’s Bone) and will be released on October 25, 2011 as digital release. Check out audio clips from the soundtrack after the jump. Project Nim is directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire) and chronicles a historic experiment to try to teach a chimpanzee language while raising the primate like a human child. The first trailer of the action comedy This Means War was released today and confirmed the involvement of composer Christophe Beck. The movie is directed by McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator: Salvation) and stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Angela Bassett and Til Schweiger. The film centers on two best friends and international spies who fall in love with the same woman and declare war on each other. Will Smith, Simon Kinberg (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), James Lassiter (I Am Legend), Robert Simonds (Cheaper by the Dozen) are producing alongside Witherspoon. Brad Fiedel’s ‘Fright Night’ Score Released

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the the score for the 1985 horror classic Fright Night. The album includes the original music composed by Brad Fiedel (Terminator, True Lies). To order the CD, visit Intrada’s online store, where you can also listen to lengthy audio clips from the album. Fright Night directed by Tom Holland starring Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale and Roddy McDowall is available on DVD.
