Columbia Records will be releasing the first original soundtrack album for the NBC musical drama Smash. The Music of Smash features original songs from the show written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, as well several cover versions performed by the show’s cast members including Katherine McPhee, Megan Hilty and Will Chase. Also included is the Ryan Fedder-produced original song Touch Me from last week’s episode. The soundtrack will be released on May 1, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Most songs featured in the already aired episodes are also available to download individually on iTunes and Amazon (click here for our last update). Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the original soundtrack for Walt Disney Pictures’ 1985 animated feature The Black Cauldron. ‘Battleship’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details for the soundtrack album of the upcoming action film Battleship. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers), as well as a track written and performed by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out below. Battleship based on Hasbro’s classical naval combat board game is directed by Peter Berg (Hancock, Friday Night Lights) and stars Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Hamish Linklater and Rihanna. ‘Dark Shadows’ Soundtrack Details

Watertower Music has revealed the details of the score soundtrack release for Tim Burton’s supernatural comedy drama Dark Shadows. The album features the original score from the film composed by the director’s regular musical collaborator Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album below. Dark Shadows os based on the classic ABC TV show stars Johnny Depp as the vampire Barnabas Collins who is forced to deal with monsters, ghosts and other supernatural creatures. The cast also includes Chloe Moretz, Thomas McDonell, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bella Heathcoate and Eva Green. The film is scheduled for a release on May 11 by Warner Bros Pictures. Robert Duncan to Score Shawn Ryan’s ‘Last Resort’

Robert Duncan is scoring the pilot for the ABC drama Last Resort. The show created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield) is set in the near future and revolves around the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become hunted fugitives after ignoring an order to fire nuclear missiles. They escape to a NATO listening outpost where they publicly declare themselves to be the world’s smallest nuclear nation with nuclear warheads. The series stars Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick, Autumn Reeser, Max Adler, Daisy Betts and Dichen Lachman. Karl Gajdusek (Dead Like Me) has co-written the pilot episode and will be executive producing the show with Ryan. Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, The Mask of Zorro) is directing the pilot and also serves as an executive producer. Duncan continues his working relationship with Shawn Ryan on the project. Klaus Badelt to Score ‘Fly Me to the Moon’

Klaus Badelt has been tapped to score the French action adventure comedy Fly Me to the Moon. The film reunites the composer with director Pascal Chaumail. They previously collaborated on the 2010 romantic comedy Heartbreaker starring Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis. Fly Me to the Moon stars Diane Kruger and Dany Boon and follows a successful woman in love who tries to break her family curse of every first marriage ending in divorce, by dashing to the alter with a random stranger before marrying her boyfriend. The Heartbreaker team of Nicolas Duval Adassovsky, Yann Zenou and Laurent Zeiton is producing for Quad Productions. Zeiton has also co-written the screenplay with Yoann Gromb. Badelt has also recently scored the comedy 30° couleur for the production company. Fly Me to the Moon is scheduled for a release in France on October 31, 2012 followed by a release in other European markets. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
Mark Isham’s ‘Nowhere to Run’ Soundtrack Announced

Perseverance Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1993 action film Nowhere to Run. The album includes the original score from the film composed by Academy Award-nominated composer Mark Isham. The album is limited to 3000 copies and will be released on April 6, 2012. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The first wide release of the week is the 3D fantasy film Wrath of the Titans directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Rosamund Pike and Bill Nighy. The sequel to the 2010 film Clash of the Titans is scored by Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth). Also opening wide is the family fantasy comedy Mirror Mirror directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Lily Collins as Snow White, Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, as well as Armie Hammer, Sean Bean and Nathan Lane. Eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken has composed the music for the film. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the original song I Believe in Love performed by Lily Collins. Aaron Zigman to Score ‘Step Up Revolution’

Aaron Zigman has been tapped to score the upcoming dance movie Step Up Revolution. The fourth movie in the Step Up series is directed by music video/commercials director Scott Speer and stars Kathryn McCormick, Ryan Guzman and Stephen Boss. The film follows the daughter of a wealthy businessman who arrives in Miami with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer, but soon falls in love with a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs. Adam Shankman (Hairspray) is producing the film with Jennifer Gibgot (17 Again), Erik Feig (I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Patrick Wachsberger (Mr. & Mrs. Smith). Jon Chu who helmed the previous two films is executive producing. Zigman has previously scored the original Step Up film in 2006, as well as the 2008 sequel Step Up 2: The Streets, while Bear McCreary scored the third installment Step Up 3D in 2010. Rob Simonsen to Score ‘Imogene’ and ‘The English Teacher’

Rob Simonsen has been hired to score the upcoming indie comedy Imogene. The film is directed by Shari Springer Sperman and Robert Pulcini (American Splendor) and stars Kristen Wiig as a New York playwright who stages a fake suicide attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to end up being forced into the custody of her gambling-addict mother. Annette Benning, Darren Criss, Natasha Lyonne, June Diane Raphae and Matt Dillon are co-starring. Michelle Morgan has written the screenplay and Alix Madigan (Winter’s Bone), Celine Rattray (The Kids Are All Right) and Trudie Style are producing the Anonymous Content and Maven Pictures production.
