Alexandre Desplat has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Zero Dark Thirty. The film is helmed by Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and stars Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Fares Fares, Jason Clarke, Mark Strong, Edgar Ramirez, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Nash Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle and Harold Perrineau Jr. Mark Boal who collaborated with Bigelow on The Hurt Locker has written the screenplay and is also producing the film with the director and Megan Ellison. Bigelow has previously worked with such composers as Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders (The Hurt Locker), Mark Isham (Point Break), Klaus Badelt (K-19: The Widowmaker) and Graeme Revell (Strange Days). Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the video game adaptation sequel Resident Evil: Retribution directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Johann Urb, Li Bingbing, Shawn Roberts, Kevin Durand, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe and Michelle Rodriguez. The film’s score is composed by tomandandy (The Strangers) who have scored the previous installment in the series. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer duo’s score, as well the end credits song Hexes produced by Bassnectar featuring Chino Moreno (of the Deftones) on vocals. Also opening wide is the 3D re-release of Pixar’s animated hit feature Finding Nemo directed by Andrew Stanton and featuring the voice talent of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks and Alexander Gould. The film’s music is composed by Thomas Newman who received an Academy Award-nomination for his work on the film. No new soundtrack has been released, but the original 2003 album is still in print (click here to download the album). Orbital’s ‘Pusher’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the crime thriller remake of Pusher have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by the British electronic dance music duo Orbital (Phil and Paul Hartnoll). Audio clips are available below. Pusher is directed by Luis Prieto and executive produced by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) who directed the 1996 original Danish film. Walt Disney Records to Release ‘Wreck-It-Ralph’ Soundtrack

Walt Disney Records has announced a soundtrack album for Disney’s upcoming animated feature Wreck-It-Ralph. The album features selections from the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Puss in Boots), as well as music by Grammy-winning electronic music artist Skrillex who wrote the game-play music Bug Hunt, which was remixed for the album by Noisia. Also included on the release is the theme song Sugar Rush performed by Japan’s pop phenomenon AKB48, When Can I See You Again? by Owl City and the end credits song Wreck-It, Wreck-It Ralph by Buckner & Garcia and co-produced with Jamie Houston. The soundtrack will be released on October 30, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full album details and the album cover art will be posted on this site within the next few weeks. Wreck-It-Ralph is directed by Rich Moore and features the voices of actors John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch. The movie will be released on November 2, 2012 . ‘Dexter’ Season 6 Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will be releasing a new soundtrack album for the Showtime hit series Dexter. The album features music from the sixth season of the show, featuring the score by composer Daniel Licht, an extended version of the main theme composed by Rolfe Kent, several Latin tracks from the show, as well as a remix of Licht’s Blood Theme by DJ/Producer, Alaksa in Winter. Mark Isham has been tapped to score the upcoming sports drama 42. The film is written and directed by Brian Helgeland and stars Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Christopher Meloni, Brad Beyer, John C. McGinley, Toby Huss and Nicole Beharie. The movie tells the life story of baseball star Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey. Legendary Pictures chairman and CEO Thomas Tull (300, Inception) is producing the project. The drama marks Helgeland’s fourth directorial effort for the big screen. WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s video game reboot Spy Hunter. The album features the game’s original music written by Grammy-nominated composer Ryan Shore (Prime, The Shrine). The composer who makes his video game scoring debut on the project has incorporated Henry Mancini’s classic theme to Peter Gunn (also used in into his score for the original 80s game) into his score. Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Sinister. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christopher Young (Hellraiser, The Grudge). The soundtrack will be released physically on October 16, 2012 and is now available on Amazon. The full soundtrack details and audio clips will be posted on this site within the next couple of weeks. Sinister is directed by Scott Derrickson who previously worked with Young on The Exorcism of Emily Rose and stars Ethan Hawke as a journalist who moves his family into a house where another family was murdered and discovers film footage revealing what happened before the tragedy occured.
