For the past couple of years, scoring mixers have been recognized alongside re-recording, production, ADR and foley mixers. In the Motion Pictures – Live Action category, the scoring mixers honored include Nick Baxter for James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown (on which Baxter also served as the executive music producer), Peter Cobbin for Shawn Levy’s Deadpool vs. Wolverine (music by Rob Simonsen), Alan Meyerson for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two (scored by Hans Zimmer) & Gladiator II (scored by Harry Gregson-Williams) and John Michael Caldwell for Jon M. The movie is directed by Tyler Spindel (The Wrong Missy, Father of the Year) and stars Amy Schumer, Jillian Bell, Brianne Howey, Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., Lizze Broadway, Chris Geere, Urzila Carlson, Joel David Moore and Alex Moffat. The romantic comedy follows a woman who puts on a fake baby bump after her plan to settle down and start a family falls apart, when she accidentally falls for her dream guy. A24 Music has released a new version of the track Perfect Place from the drama Sing Sing. The piece written by the film’s composer (and The National member) Bryce Dessner and performed by pianist Alice Sara Ott is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the track after the jump. The label has previously released a full soundtrack album featuring Dessner’s score last July and a digital single featuring Adrian Quesada’s & Abraham Alexander’s original song Like a Bird from the movie. Mississippi Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 2006 indie drama Old Joy written and directed by Kelly Reichardt and starring Lars Knudsen, Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani and Jay Van Hoy. The 6-track EP features the film’s original score composed by the indie rock band Yo La Tengo (Junebug, Adventureland, Shortbus, Far from the Tree). The soundtrack will be released digitally and (for the first time) on vinyl on February 28. The show is based on Lux Vide’s Italian series Doc – Nelle tue mani and stars Molly Parker, Omar Metwally, Jon Ecker, Amirah Vann, Anya Banerjee, Scott Wolf and Patrick Walker. The series follows a hard-charging, brilliant Chief of Internal Medicine who suffers a brain injury that erases the last eight years of her memory and affords her a second chance to do things differently. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Gary Yershon (Mr. Turner, Happy-Go-Lucky, Brighton, Another Year, Trial and Retribution23 Walks). Also included is the composer’s score from Leigh’s previous feature Peterloo (partially released as a digital EP back in 2018), as well as the director’s stage plays Grief and Two Thousand Years. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross have received their third Golden Globe in the Original Score category for their score for Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers at tonight’s 82nd Golden Globe Awards ceremony. They previously won the award for their music for The Social Network & Soul and were also nominated for their The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl and Mank scores.
