Javier Navarrete has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming 3D martial arts fantasy adventure 47 Ronin. The film is directed by Carl Erik Rinsch and stars Keanu Reeves, as well as Japanese actors Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuchi, and Kou Shibasaki. The movie is written by Chris Morgan (Fast Five) and Hossein Amini (Drive) and follows the 47 Ronin, a band of samurai swordsmen who avenge the death of their master in 18th century Japan. Composer Ilan Eshkeri and singer/songwriter Andy Burrows have recently recorded their score for the British animated short The Snowman and the Snowdog. The short film is a sequel to the 1982 Academy Award-nominated animated special The Snowman based on the children’s book by Raymond Briggs. The sequel is written and directed by Hilary Audus and Joanna Harrison who also worked on the original special. Briggs is involved as a script consultant. The original film was scored by Howard Blake. Ehskeri and Burrows have recorded their score earlier this month with the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. ‘West of Memphis’ Soundtrack Announced

Sony Legacy will release the official soundtrack album for the documentary West of Memphis. The album features music from and inspired by the film, including a cover of Pink Floyd’s Mother performed by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Satellite by Eddie Vedder, as well as songs by artists including Lucinda Williams, Band of Horses, Patti Smith, Citizen Cope, Tonto’s Giant Nuts featuring Johnny Depp. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, as well as excerpts from Damien Echols’ letters from death row recited by Henry Rollins and Johnny Depp over the score. West of Memphis: Voices for Justice will be released physically on January 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. West of Memphis directed by Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil), produced by Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh (The Lord of the Rings), Lorri Davis and Damien Echols centers on the wrongful conviction case of three Arkansas teenagers who were found guilty in 1994 of the ritual murder of three eight-year-old boy. Bathing Suit Music has released a soundtrack album for Edward Burns’ indie comedy drama The Fitzgerald Family Christmas. The album features the film’s original score composed by P.T. Walkley who has previously worked together with Burns on such films as Newlyweds, The Groomsmen, Purple Violets and Nice Guy Johnny. Also included are the songs featured in the movie by artists including Michael Aarons, Christopher Jackson, Frannybird and The Traces. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Victor Reyes to Score ‘Grand Piano’

Victor Reyes has been tapped to score the upcoming psychological thriller Grand Piano. The film is directed by Eugenio Mira (The Birthday) and stars Elijah Wood, John Cusack, Kerry Bishe, Tamsin Egerton, Don McManus, Alex Winter and Allen Leech. The movie follows a piano virtuoso who returns to perform after being forced into early retirement because of stage fright. Damien Chazelle (The Last Exorcism Part II) has written the screenplay. Adrian Guerra and Rodrigo Cortes are producing the Nostromo Pictures production. Reyes has previously collaborated with the producers on this year’s Red Lights and 2010’s Buried, which were both directed by Cortes and produced by Guerra. Grand Piano is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2013.
‘Silent Night’ Soundtrack Released

Pale Blue Records has released a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Silent Night. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kevin Riepl (Aliens: Colonial Marines, ABCs of Death). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Silent Night is directed by Steven C. Miller and stars Malcolm McDowell, Jaime King, Donal Logue, Lisa Marie, Brendan Fehr and Ellen Wong. The movie follows a small-town sheriff and deputy on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus terrorizing their community on Christmas Eve. Craig Richey to Score ‘Uncanny’

Craig Richey is scoring the upcoming indie sci-fi thriller Uncanny. The film is directed by Matthew Leutwyler and stars Mark Webber, David Rogers, Lucy Griffiths and Rainn Wilson. The movie follows a technology reporter who gets a week of exclusive access to the world’s first perfect artificial intelligence. Shahin Chandrasoma has written the screenplay and Sim Sarna is producing the Ambush Entertainment production. Richey has previously collaborated with Leutwyler on his last feature Answers to Nothing and has also scored Ambush’s Wonderful World. Alec Puro has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Scribbler. The film is directed by John Suits (Breathing Room) and stars Katie Cassidy as a young woman who is confronting her destructive mental illness using an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. Garret Dillahunt, Michelle Trachtenberg, Eliza Dushku, Michael Imperioli, Gina Gershon, Billy Campbell and Sasha Grey are also starring.
