Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the monster movie Godzilla directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, The Queen, The Grand Budapest Hotel). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the sports drama Million Dollar Arm directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Tom McCarthy and starring Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Bill Paxton, Lake Bell, Suraj Sharma, Madhur Mittal, Pitobash and Alan Arkin. A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionnaire, 127 Hours) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s songs and score earlier this week. Johnny Klimek is the new composer of the HBO original series The Newsroom. The co-composer of such films as Run Lola Run, The Perfume, The International, One Hour Photo, Killer Elite and last year’s Cloud Atlas, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination, is writing the score for the second season of the show created by Aaron Sorkin.
