ERPB has released a soundtrack album for the romantic thriller Upstream Color. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shane Carruth who has also written, produced and directed the movie. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. ‘Mindless Behavior: All Around the World’ to Feature Music by Ryan Shore

Ryan Shore has composed the score for the concert documentary Mindless Behavior: All Around the World. The film is directed by Steven Goldfried and centers on the hit teen R&B/hip-hop boy band Mindless Behavior. The movie follows the band’s members Roc Royal, Ray Ray, Princeton and Prodigy as they travel across the US on their first major headlining tour. Brian Robbins (Varsity Blues, Smallville), Joe Davola and Walter M. Millsap III are producing the project. The Grammy-nominated composer, whose previous credits include such films as Prime, Harvard Man, Numb and the recent video game Spy Hunter, has written a multi-styled score ranging from hip hop, R&B and pop music, to orchestra, guitar and solo piano based emotional scoring for Mindless Behavior: All Around the World. Varese Sarabande has announced two new limited edition soundtrack releases. First up is a soundtrack album for the thriller Riddle. The album features the film’s score composed and conducted by Scott Glasgow (Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles, Taking Chances). Marcelo Zarvos to Score Showtime’s ‘Ray Donovan’

Marcelo Zarvos is currently scoring the upcoming Showtime original series Ray Donovan. The drama is created by Ann Biderman (Southland, Primal Fear) and stars Liev Schreiber in the title role as a go-to guy who makes the problems of LA’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls disappear and experiences his own problems when his father, played by Jon Voight, is unexpectedly released from prison. Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Katherine Moennig, Dash Mihok, Kerris Dorsey, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer and Devon Bagby are co-starring. Biderman is executive producing the show with Mark Gordon (Source Code, Grey’s Anatomy) and Bryan Zuriff (The Details). Allen Coulter has directed the pilot episode. ‘Möbius’ Soundtrack Details

L’R Du Trésor and Because Music have released a soundtrack album for the romantic thriller Möbius. The album features the film’s score composed by Jonathan Morali who is best known as the frontman of the French band Syd Matters and made his film scoring debut on the project. Also included are two electronic tracks by Olga Kouklaki and Bot’Ox. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Möbius is written and directed by Eric Rochant and stars Jean Dujardin, Cecile de France, Tim Roth and John Lynch. The movie follows an experienced spy who is tracking a powerful oligarch suspected of laundering money through his bank. The thriller will be released in France later this week. Mychael Danna Wins Oscar for ‘Life of Pi’

Mychael Danna has won his first Academy Award in the Best Original Score category for his music for Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. The composer was also nominated for the first time. The other contenders in the category were John Williams (Lincoln), Alexandre Desplat (Argo), Dario Marianelli (Anna Karenina) and Thomas Newman (Skyfall). All five nominated composers were in attendance at the awards ceremony.

This afternoon, the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) hosted its annual reception honoring the Academy Award-nominated composers and songwriters in the Best Original Score and Best Original Song category at the home of composer John Cacavas in Beverly Hills. All five nominated composers in the score category attended the event: John Williams (Lincoln), Dario Marianelli (Anna Karenina), Alexandre Desplat (Argo), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) and Thomas Newman (Skyfall). Among the attendants in the Best Original Song category were J. Ralph (nominated for the song Before My Time from Chasing Ice), Claude-Michel Schonberg, Herbert Kretzmer & Alain Boublil (nominated for the original song Suddenly from Les Miserables), Mychael Danna and Bombay Jayashri (who received a nomination for Pi’s Lullaby from Life of Pi), Walter Murphy (nominated for the song Everybody Needs a Best Friend from Ted with Seth MacFarlane) and Paul Epworth (nominated for the title song of Skyfall with Adele). John Powell and Sergio Mendes to Return for ‘Rio 2’

20th Century Fox has announced this week that composer John Powell and Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes are returning to provide the music for the upcoming animated feature sequel Rio 2. The film is directed by Carlos Saldanha who directed the original 2011 film. Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jemaine Clement, will.i.am, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto, Jake T. Austin and Jamie Foxx are returning to voice the characters from the first part and are joined by new voice talent including Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amandla Stenberg, Rachel Crow, Pierce Gagnon and Natalie Morales. John C. Donkin and Bruce Anderson are producing the Blue Sky Animation production.
