The film is directed by Saul Dibb (The Duchess) and stars Michelle Williams, Matthias Schoenaerts, Kristin Scott Thomas, Sam Riley, Ruth Wilson, Margot Robbie, Alexandra Maria Lara, Tom Schilling and Lambert Wilson. The movie is based on the best-selling work of writer Irène Némirovsky and was adapted for the screen by Dibb and Matt Charman. The drama follows a young woman in Nazi-occupied France who ends up falling in love with a German officer. Xavier Marchand will serves as a producer for Entertainment One, alongside Romain Brémond for TF1 DA and Michael Kuhn (The Duchess) & Andrea Cornwell (Last Days on Mars) for Qwerty Films. last-resortA soundtrack album for ABC’s critically acclaimed series Last Resort will be released next week. The album features selections from the show’s original score composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Unit). The soundtrack is set to be released digitally on iTunes next Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Check out our previous article for a behind-the-scenes video of Duncan creating the score for the ABC drama. Last Resort is created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Karl Gajdusek (Dead Like Me) and stars Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick, Autumn Reeser, Max Adler, Daisy Betts and Dichen Lachman. The show follows the crew of the U.S. ballistic submarine Colorado that is attacked by another U.S. submarine. Left for dead on a remote island, they must clear their names and solve the mystery behind the attack. The drama aired on ABC last fall and the complete series will be released on DVD on July 2. The album features the film’s original score composed by Joseph Bishara who previously scored Wan’s Insidious, as well as the movie’s “family theme” composed by Mark Isham (Crash, 42, Once Upon a Time). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 16, 2013 by WaterTower Music and physically on the same day by La-La Land Records. toy-story-of-terrorMichael Giacchino has been hired to score Disney/Pixar’s upcoming Halloween TV special Toy Story of Terror. The animated short is directed by Angus MacLane (Small Fry) and follows the Toy Story gang on a trip to a roadside motel. When one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events. The special features the voice talent from the Toy Story features, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal and Carl Weathers. Galyn Susman (Hawaiian Vacation) is producing the project. Giacchino has previously scored the features The IncrediblesRatatouille, Up and Cars 2, as well as the shorts One Man Band, Lifted, Partly Cloudy, Day & Night and La luna for Pixar Animation Studios. saturn-awardDanny Elfman was honored with a Saturn Award tonight at the 39th annual Saturn Awards, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The composer won the award in the Best Music category for his score for Tim Burton’s animated feature Frankenweenie, which was also recognized in the Best Animated Film category.  The other nominated composers were Mychael Danna (Life of Pi), Dario Marianelli (Anna Karenina), Thomas Newman (Skyfall), Howard Shore (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight Rises). The album features the film’s original score composed by Thomas Wander and Harald Kloser (201210’000 B.C., The Day After Tomorrow). Also included is the song Chevy Knights (Mickey & Mallory) performed by He Met Her. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 28, 2013. The film marks the directorial debut of the Academy Award-nominated editor Saar Klein (The Thin Red Line, Almost Famous) and stars Wes Bentley, Vinessa Shaw, Haley Bennett and Jason Isaacs. The movie follows a family man who loses his job and embarks on a life of crime. He befriends a detective and a female stranger who shows him kindness, which inspires him to commit a crime in her honor. Klein has co-written the screenplay with Joe Conway (Undertow, Paradise, Texas). Sarah Green (The Tree of Life, Frida, Mud), Hans Graffunder and Christos V. ‘Java Heat’ Soundtrack Released

java-heatMetropolis Movie Music has released a soundtrack album for the action thriller Java Heat. The album features the film’s original score composed by Justin Burnett (Dungeons & Dragons, the upcoming Getaway). Also included are four songs by the English rock band Black Submarine. The soundtrack is now available digitally on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Java Heat is directed by Conor Allyn and stars Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke and Ario Bayu. The movie follows a reckless American posing as a grad student who is bent on vengeance following a suicide bombing in Indonesia. Sean Callery is attached to score the upcoming reboot of the long-running Fox hit series 24. 24: Live Another Day will tell a 24-hour story over 12 episodes that jump hours. Kiefer Sutherland will return in the leading role of Jack Bauer. Howard Gordon (Homeland) is set to executive produce the mini-series with Imagine TV’s Brian Grazer and 20th Century Fox Television. It has also been announced that Jon Cassar who helmed 59 episodes of the original series has signed to direct the first two episodes. Callery previously composed the music for all 8 seasons and 192 episodes of the show from 2001 to 2008. Varese Sarabande released a number of soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music from the series. 24: Live Another Day is set to premiere in May of 2014 on Fox. Read the rest of this entry »
