Relativity Music Group will release a soundtrack album for the the drama Out of the Furnace. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter‘s Bone, Last Chance Harvey). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Out of the Furnace is co-written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) and stars Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoe Saldana and Sam Shepard. The movie follows two brothers in an economically depressed part of the American Rust Belt. When one has to go to prison, the other is lured into a ruthless gang. Premiering tonight on Fox is the new futuristic drama Almost Human created by J.H. Wyman, executive produced by J.J. Abrams & Bryan Burke and starring Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Minka Kelly, Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Crook and Michael Irby. Electronic music duo The Crystal Method who previously composed the main titles theme for the Fox series Bones are composing the show’s original score. J.J. Abrams has composed the main titles theme, which will be introduced in the second episode, which will premiere tomorrow, November 18. La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album for the television event Bonnie & Clyde. The album features the original score from the mini-series composed by Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2). The soundtrack will be released on December 10, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Bonnie & Clyde is directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) and stars Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger in the title roles of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, the 1930s couple whose crime spree enraptured the American public. Holly Hunter, William Hurt, Sarah Hyland, Elizabeth Reaser, Lane Garrison, Austin Hebert and Dale Dickey are also starring in the four hour mini-series, which will premiere over two nights on December 8 & 9 on the History, Lifetime and A&E networks. ‘Morocco’ (‘Exit Marrakech’) Soundtrack Announced

Colosseum Music Entertainment has announced a soundtrack album for Caroline Link’s German drama Morocco (Exit Marrakech). The album features the film’s original music composed by Niki Reiser who has previously collaborated with the director on a number of films, including Beyond Silence and the Academy Award-winning feature Nowhere in Africa. The soundtrack will be released overseas on December 6, 2013. No word yet on a domestic release date. Morocco stars Ulrich Tukur, Josef Bierbichler, Hafsia Herzi, Marie-Lou Sellem and Samuel Schneider. The movie centers on the relationship between a respected theater director and his rebellious teenage son during a trip to Marrakech, which is followed by a cathartic road trip across Morocco. The drama had its international premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and was picked up for domestic distribution by Adopt Films for a theatrical release in early summer of 2014. Only one new movie is opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in more than 2000 theaters is the comedy The Black Man Holiday directed by Malcolm D. Lee and starring Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall. Stanley Clarke (Passenger 57) who has previously collaborated with Lee on such films as Undercover Brothers, Soul Men and the original The Best Man film has composed the movie’s original score. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the Christmas-themed songs from the film by artists including Jordin Sparks, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, Ne-Yo and Emeli Sande. Opening in New York and Los Angeles before expanding to more cities within the next couple of weeks is the comedy drama Nebraska directed by Alexander Payne and starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, Stacy Keach, June Squibb and Bob Odenkirk. The film’s music is composed by Mark Orton (The Good Girl) of the Californian acoustic chamber music group Tin Hat. ‘Hours’ Soundtrack Announced

Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Hours. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Benjamin Wallfisch (The Escapist, Dear Wendy, Summer in February). The soundtrack will be released on December 10, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Hours is written and directed by Eric Heisserer (screenwriter of Final Destination 5 and The Thing) and stars Paul Walker and Genesis Rodriguez. The movie is set during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and follows a father’s desperate attempt to keep his newborn daughter alive in the wake of the storm’s destruction. The thriller produced by the Safran Company (The Conjuring) in conjunction with Palmstar Media and the Hirsch Group premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is set to be released in select theaters on December 13 by Pantelion Films. Christopher Young to Score Scott Derrickson’s ‘Beware the Night’

Director Scott Derrickson has announced on Twitter that he will be reteaming with composer Christopher Young on the upcoming supernatural police thriller Beware the Night. The movie stars Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, Joel McHale and Sean Harris. The film follows a New York street cop who has put his faith in religion behind him, but now finds himself targeted by the devil in the form of possessed soldier. Derrickson has co-written the screenplay with Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Urban Legends: Final Cut). Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean series, National Treasure, The Rock) is producing the project through his production company Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Read the rest of this entry »

Austin Wintory is currently scoring the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Dark Summer. The film is directed by Paul Solet and stars Peter Stormare, Stella Maeve, Grace Phipps, Keir Gilchrist and Maestro Harrel. The movie follows a 17-year-old boy who is placed under house arrest for the summer while his mother is away on business. Mike Le (K-Town web series) has written the script. Ross M. Dinerstein (The Pact, The Divide, Powder Blue) is producing the project for Preferred Film & TV and Jamie Carmichael (Black Book, Splinter) is executive producing for Content Film.
