Premiering on Tuesday, February 11, is the Netflix original anime film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep directed by Kang Hei Chul and starring Doug Cockle, Joey Batey, Anya Chalotra and Christina Wren. The movie’s original music is composed by Joseph Trapanese (The Witcher, Oblivion, Shadow and Bone, Straight Outta Compton, The Greatest Showman, The Raid: Redemption, Project Power). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be announced soon. Premiering on Wednesday, February 12, is the Disney+ original documentary series Harlem Ice directed by Samantha Knowles and executive produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein, Geeta Gandbhir, Meredith Kaulfers, Robin Roberts and Justin Wilkes. Sami Jano (Dads, We Feed People) & James Jano have composed the show’s original music. The 5-parter, which follows the coaches and girls of Figure Skating in Harlem as they prepare for performances, competitions, and a life-changing global experience, will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+. Kris Bowers Wins Annie Award for ‘The Wild Robot’ Score

Kris Bowers was honored with his first Annie Award in the Feature category for his music from DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot at tonight’s 52nd Annie Awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Bowers’ score was released by Back Lot Music. The other contenders in the category were Stuart Hancock for Kensuke’s Kingdom, Pharrell Williams & Michael Andrews for Piece by Piece, John Powell, Ed Sheeran & Johnny McDaid for That Christmas and Lorne Balfe & Julian Nott for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. ‘Detective Chinatown 1900’ Soundtrack Album Released

A soundtrack album has been released for the Chinese mystery comedy Detective Chinatown 1900. The album features the film’s original score composed by Hu Xiaoou and Nathan Wang (She’s All That, The Game Plan, You Again, Playing with Fire, Chinese Zodiac). Also included is the song Welcome to San Francisco performed by Rennie Wang. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and most other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. Detective Chinatown 1900 is directed by Chen Sicheng & Dai Mo and stars Wang Baoqiang, Liu Haoran, Chow Yun-Fat, Zhang Xincheng, Ke Bai and Yue Yunpeng. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action comedy Love Hurts directed by JoJo Eusebio and starring Ke Huy Quan, Ariana DeBose, Daniel Wu, Lio Tipton, Sean Astin, Mustafa Shakir, Marshawn Lynch, André Eriksen and Rhys Darby. The film’s original music is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Fall Guy, The Man in the High Castle, Bullet Train, Peter Rabbit, Money Monster, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, Spirited). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the slasher movie Heart Eyes directed by Josh Ruben and starring Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Devon Sawa Jordana Brewster and Michaela Watkins. Jay Wadley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things,  Swan Song, Tell Me Lies, Franklin, Indignation, We Grown Now, I Carry You with Me, Fire Island) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released in the coming weeks by Lakeshore Records. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Win Critics Choice Award for ‘Challengers’ Score

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross were honored with their third Critics Choice Award in the Best Score category for their music for Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers at tonight’s 30th Critics Choice Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. They previously received the award for The Social Network and Soul. The other composers nominated in the category were Volker Bertelmann for Conclave, Kris Bowers for The Wild Robot, Clément Ducol & Camille for Emilia Pérez, Daniel Blumberg for The Brutalist and Hans Zimmer for Dune: Part Two. Dan Levy (I Lost My Body, Meanwhile on Earth, Breaking Point, Vesper, Star Wars Visions: Sith, Empire of the Wolves, For My Country) is set to score a new contemporary French film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s classic novel The Phantom of the Opera (Le Fantôme de l’Opéra). The movie is directed by Alexandre Castagnetti (Love Is in the Air, Tamara) and will star Deva Cassel, Julien De Saint Jean and Romain Duris. The film tells the story of a young woman newly-arrived in Paris and full of hopes and dreams as she takes up a position as a ballet dancer at the opera house, where she meets the place’s mythical phantom and they embark on an impossible love story.
