Composer Jed Kurzel (Alien: Covenant,The Babadook, The Snowtown Murders, Overlord, Monkey Man, Assassin’s Creed, The Mustang, The Pope’s Exorcist) is reteaming with director Michael Pearce (Beast) on the upcoming thriller Echo Valley. The film starring Julianne Moore, Sydney Sweeney & Domhnall Gleeson follows a mother whose troubled daughter shows on up on her doorstep, hysterical and covered in someone else’s blood, and has to try to piece together the shocking truth of what happened. Brad Inglesby (Mare of Easttown, Out of the Furnace) wrote the screenplay. He is also producing the project with Scott Free Films’ Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) and Michael Pruss (Alien: Romulus, Gladiator II), as well as The Walsh Company’s Kevin J. Walsh (Manchester by the Sea, House of Gucci). Kurzel has previously scored Pearce’s last feature, Encounter. Echo Valley will premiere on June 13, 2025 exclusively on Apple TV+.
Kurzel has also recently scored the British period drama Tornado written and directed by John Maclean and starring stars Kōki, Jack Lowden, Takehiro Hira and Tim Roth. The movie, which follows a young woman who vows to seek vengeance when her father’s puppet Samurai show is ambushed by a notorious gang and forge her own destiny by stealing the gang’s ill-gotten gold, premiered at this year’s Glasgow Film Festival and will be released in select U.S. theaters on May 30 by IFC Films and in the UK on June 13.
