Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Twisters, Alien: RomulusBlade Runner 2049, The Flash, Hidden Figures, Shazam!) has signed on to score the upcoming horror sequel The Conjuring: Last Rites. The film is directed by Michael Chaves (The Nun II, The Curse of La Llorona) and stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy. The movie takes place in 1986, five years after the events of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and follows Ed & Lorraine Warren investigating the case of the Smurl family haunting. Ian Goldberg & Richard Naing (Fear the Walking Dead, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) wrote the screenplay with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (Orphan, Wrath of the Titans). Atomic Monster’s James Wan (Aquaman, Furious 7) and Peter Safran (Superman, The Suicide Squad) are producing the New Line Cinema production. Wallfisch has previously scored The Conjuring spinoff feature Annabelle Creation. Joseph Bishara has composed the music for the first three installments in The Conjuring series. The Conjuring: Last Rites will be released in theaters nationwide on September 5, 2025 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

As previously reported, Wallfisch also has Simon McQuoid’s Mortal Kombat 2 (to be released in theaters on October 24) coming up. He has also recently scored David F. Sandberg’s Until Dawn, which has just been released in late April and is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
