Christopher Lennertz and Jay Gruska have composed the original songs for the 200th episode of The CW hit series Supernatural. The special musical episode entitled Fan Fiction follows Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) as they investigate the disappearance of a high school teacher and are stunned to discover that the school is putting on a musical based on their lives. One of the show’s writers Robert Thompson wrote the lyrics to accompany the composers’ music. Original songs include The Boys Investigate, Supernatural, A Single Man Tear, The Road So Far, I’ll Just Wait Here Then, and an a cappella version of Carry on My Wayward Son. The Newton Brothers to Score ‘The Runner’

The Newton Brothers have been hired to score the upcoming political drama The Runner. The film marks the directorial debut of Austin Stark and stars Nicolas Cage, Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Peter Fonda, Bryan Batt and Wendell Pierce. The movie takes place in the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill and follows a idealistic but flawed congressman who is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal. Stark has also written the screenplay. Benji Kohn, Bingo Gubelmann & Chris Papavasiliou (Happythankyoumoreplease) and Erika Hampson (Mall) are producing the project for Paper Street Films, alongside Glenn Williamson (The Omen, Sunshine Cleaning, Push) for Back Lot Pictures. The film’s music is composed by Howard Shore who previously scored the first two movies in the series, as well as The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the NBC mini-series Rosemary’s Baby. The album features the two-parter’s original music composed by Antoni Komasa-Lazarkiewicz who previously collaborated with the project’s director Agnieszka Holland on In Darkness and HBO’s Burning Bush. Jason Moran Scoring Ava DuVernay’s ‘Selma’

Jason Moran is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming biographical drama Selma in Seattle. The project marks the first scoring assignment of the jazz pianist who is also the artistic director for music at the Kennedy Center. Selma is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King Jr., Carmen Ejogo as Coretta Scott King and Tom Wilkinson as Lyndon Baines Johnson.
