Premiering tonight is the Showtime original series Billions created by Brian Koppelman & David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin and starring Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad. The show’s original music is composed by ESKMO aka Brenden Angelides. The series will air every Sunday night on Showtime and the first episode is already available to stream for free on various platforms.

Also premiering tonight is the mini-series Mercy Street created by Lisa Q. Wolfinger & David Zabel and starring Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety, Norbert Leo Butz, AnnaSophia Robb and Cherry Jones. David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden King) has composed the music for the 6-parter, which follows the lives of two volunteer nurses on opposing sides of the Civil War. The Newton Brothers Scoring ‘Urge’

The Newton Brothers have been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Urge. The film marks the directorial debut of producer Aaron Kaufman (Machete Kills, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) and stars Pierce Brosnan, Ashley Greene, Alexis Knapp, Justin Chatwin, Danny Masterson, Bar Paly, Alexis Knapp, Chris Geere and Nick Thune. The movie follows a group of young friends who experiment with a new designer drug that perilously diminishes one’s ability to control destructive urges. ‘Monster Hunt’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Chinese 3D fantasy adventure Monster Hunt. The album features the film’s original music composed by Leon Ko (The Warlords). The soundtrack will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album is already available in several international markets. Monster Hunt is directed by Raman Hui and stars Bai Baihe, Jing Boran, Jiang Wu and Elaine Jin. The movie follows a baby monster king Wuba who is adopted by humans played by Jing Boran and Bai Baihe. The live action/CGI hybrid opened last year in China, where it became the market’s highest-grossing film ever and will be released stateside on January 22 by FilmRise. Read the rest of this entry »

Three new movies are opening nationwide this holiday weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action comedy Ride Along 2 directed by Tim Story and starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter and Sherri Shepherd. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Agent Carter, Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief, Hop) who collaborate with such musicians as drummer Sheila E. and trumpeter Arturo Sandoval on the project. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the action drama 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of the Benghazi directed by Michael Bay and starring John Krasinski, Pablo Schreiber, Domicnic Fumusa, Max Martini, James Badge Dale, Toby Stephens, Matt Letscher and David Denman. Lorne Balfe (Terminatory Genisys, Home, Penguins of Madagascar) has composed the film’s original music. Hans Zimmer serves as the executive music producer. ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Soundtrack Details

WaterTower Music has announced today the official soundtrack album for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg). The soundtrack will be released digitally, on CD, as a 2-disc deluxe CD, and on Limited Edition 3-disc deluxe vinyl on March 18, 2016. Chris Cornell has recorded the original song ‘Til the Sun Comes Back Around for Michael Bay’s action drama 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Soundtrack Details for William Brent Bell’s ‘The Boy’

The details of the soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Boy have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, The Forest, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Outlander). Todd Phillips’ ‘Arms and the Dudes’ to Feature Music by Cliff Martinez

Cliff Martinez has composed the music for the upcoming comedy Arms and the Dudes. The film is directed by Todd Phillips and stars Miles Teller, Jonah Hill, Ana de Armas and JB Blanc. The movie is based on a Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson and follows two unlikely arms dealers who received a $300 million contract to supply weapons for U.S. allies in Afghanistan and soon found themselves in danger abroad and in trouble back home because they were completely out of their depth. ‘Brothers of the Wind’ Soundtrack Announced

Red Bull Media House will release a soundtrack album for the adventure drama Brothers of the Wind. The album features the film’s original music composed by Sarah Class (Africa, Meerkats: The Movie). Also included is a new version of the song Freedom by Rebecca Ferguson. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 26, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Brothers of the Wind is directed by Gerardo Olivares & Otmar Penker and stars Jean Reno, Manuel Camacho and Tobias Moretti. The movie, which combines scripted narrative with wildlife footage, follows a troubled boy and an abandoned eagle chick, which has been thrown out of the nest by his older brother. Dominic Lewis to Score ‘Henchmen’

Dominic Lewis is set to score the upcoming animated feature Henchmen. The film is directed by Adam Wood and features the voice talent of James Marsden, Thomas Middleditch, Rosario Dawson, Jane Krakowski, Alfred Molina, Rob Riggle, Craig Robinson & Nathan Fillion. The animated comedy follows a new recruit to the Union of Evil, where he is assigned to a motley crew of blue-collar workers that is assigned to the Vault of Villainy where he accidentally steals the ultimate weapon. Wood has also written the screenplay with David Ray and Jay D. Waxman.
