Celloid has released a soundtrack album for the German thriller Labyrinth of Lies (Im Labyrinth des Schweigens). The album features the film’s original music composed by Niki Reiser (Beyond Silence, Nowhere in Africa) and Sebastian Pille. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. ‘Harmontown’ Soundtrack Announced

Starburn Industries will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Harmontown. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Elder (Rick and Morty, Wizards of Waverly Place). Also included are a number of bonus tracks from Harmon’s live tour. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Harmontown is directed by Neil Berkeley and centers on Community creator Dan Harmon’s road tour, taking his Harmontown podcast to fans across the country. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings directed by Ridley Scott and starring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, John Turturro, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley. The film’s original music is composed by Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener) Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as a couple of tracks written by additional composers Harry Gregson-Williams and Federico Jusid. Also opening wide is the comedy Top Five written and directed by Chris Rock and starring himself, Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, JB Smoove, Sherri Shepherd, Anders Holm, Romany Malco and Leslie Jones. Questlove and Ludwig Goransson have composed the film’s original score. Def Jam Recording has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired by the film by artists including Jay Z & Kanye West, DMX, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, The Roots, Rakim and Salt-N-Pepa. Academy Announces 79 Original Songs in Oscar Race

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced the short list of 79 songs that are in contention for nominations in the Original Song category for the 87th Academy Awards. During the nominations process, all voting members of the Music Branch will receive a Reminder List of works submitted in the category and a DVD copy of the song clips. Members will be asked to watch the clips and then vote in the order of their preference for not more than five achievements in the category. The five achievements receiving the highest number of votes will become the nominations for final voting for the award. A maximum of two songs may be nominated from any one film. Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe Scoring NBC’s ‘A.D.’

Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe are scoring the upcoming NBC event mini-series A.D.. The 12-parter is the sequel to last year’s History series The Bible and starts with the Crucifixion and The Resurrection and chronicles the events that follow. The show’s cast includes Juan Pablo di Pace, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Aniss Elkohen, Richard Coyle, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Cesare Taurasi and Adam Levy. Simon Block (Inspector Lewis) has written the scripts. Mark Burnett (Survivor, Shark Tank) and Roma Downey are executive producing the project with Richard Bedser. Jon Brion to Score Judd Apatow’s ‘Trainwreck’

Jon Brion is reuniting with director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up) on the upcoming comedy Trainwreck. The film is written by comedian Amy Schumer who also stars in the film alongside Bill Hader, LeBron James, Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton, John Cena and Ezra Miller. The movie follows a commitment-averse woman who is trying to get past her self-sabotaging ways. Apatow is also producing the project with Barry Mendel (The Sixth Sense, Bridesmaids, The Royal Tenenbaums). Dominic Lewis Scoring ‘The DUFF’

Dominic Lewis has been tapped to score the upcoming teen comedy The DUFF. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Ari Sandel who received an Ocar for his short West Bank Story and stars Mae Whitman, Robbie Amell, Bella Thorne, Bianca A. Santos, Allison Janney and Ken Jeong. The movie based on the novel by Kody Keplinger follows a high school senior whose world is turned upside down when she learns that her group of friends has labeled her the DUFF (designated ugly fat friend). Josh A. Kagan (Bandslam) has written the screenplay. McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator: Salvation), Susan Cartsonis (What Women Want, Beastly) and Mary Viola (Before We Go, Playing It Cool) are producing the project for Wonderland Sound and Vision.
