Martin Phipps is composing the music for the upcoming mini-series War and Peace. The epic drama is directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and stars Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox, Ken Stott, Stephen Rea, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus. Andrew Davies (House of Cards, Bridget Jones’s Diaries) has written the scripts for the 6-parter based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL (Mad Max: Fury Road, Divergent, 300: Rise of an Empire, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Paul Cantelon has composed a theme for M. Night Shyamalan’s horror thriller The Visit. The theme written for solo piano plays over the film’s epilogue scene. Apart from Cantelon’s Epilogue Theme, the movie doesn’t feature any original score. Shyamalan has previously collaborated with composer James Newton Howard on his previous eight movies, including The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village and The Last Airbender. Cantelon’s best known film scoring credits include The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, W., The Other Boleyn Girl, Everything Is Illuminated and Conviction. Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for Danny Boyle’s biographical drama Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels, Katherine Waterston and Michael Stuhlbarg. The album features the film’s original score composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Counselor, The Awakening), as well as other music from the film. The soundtrack will be released on October 9, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Premiering on Friday, September 4, is the Amazon Studios original series Hand of God created by Ben Watkins (Burn Notice), executive produced by Marc Forster (World War Z) and starring Ron Perlman, Dana Delany, Garret Dillahunt, Andre Royo, Alona Tal, Julian Morris, Elizabeth McLaughlin and Hunter Parrish. The show’s original music is composed by Marc Streitenfeld (Robin Hood, Prometheus, American Gangster, The Grey, Poltergeist). Hand of God follows a hard-living judge who suffers a mental breakdown and launches a quest to seek revenge against the rapist who tore his family apart. The full first season of the drama will be available to stream on Amazon.

A soundtrack album has been released for Alex Perry Ross’ psychological thriller Queen of Earth. The album features the film’s original music composed by Keegan DeWitt (I’ll See You in My Dreams, Land Ho!, Unexpected) who previously collaborated with the director on last year’s Listen Up Philip. Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since Wednesday is the action thriller No Escape directed by John Erick Dowdle and starring Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, I, Robot, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma, Hellboy) and Buck Sanders (Warm Bodies, The Hurt Locker). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the song Take Care of You by Jim James.
