The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger GamesKing KongMaleficentThe Sixth Sense). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a new version of the song Castle by Halsey arranged by the Howard. hologram-for-the-kingOpening in around 400 theaters is the comedy drama A Hologram for the King written and directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Tom Hanks, Alexander Black, Sarita Choudhury, Ben Winshaw, Tom Skerritt, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Jay Abdo. Tykwer (The InternationalCloud AtlasRun Lola Run) has also written the film’s original music with Johnny Klimek (One Hour PhotoSense8). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score. imageThe first round of the program and composers for the 16th World Soundtrack Awards has been announced today. This year’s edition will shine the spotlight on television scores. The Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir will perform the scores to numerous TV series in the presence of their composers. Among the titles to be performed are FX’s Fargo composed by Jeff Russo who will be performing drums during a performance of his score, The Leftovers composed by Max Richter, Sherlock composed by David Arnold& Michael Price, House of Cards written by Jeff Beal who will also be on stage as a performer. tyler-batesTyler Bates has been tapped to score the upcoming spy thriller The Coldest City. The film is directed by David Leitch and stars Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman and Sofia Boutella. The movie based on Antony Johnston’s graphic novel of the same title is set in Berlin during the Cold War era and follows a female spy who has to find a list of double agents who were being smuggled into the West. Kurt Johnstad (300, Act of Valor) has written the screenplay. Leitch and Theron are also producing the project with A.J. singJoby Talbot is reteaming with director Garth Jennings on the upcoming animated feature Sing. The film is written and directed by Jennings and features the voice talent of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll, Jennifer Saunders and Peter Serafinowicz. The movie follows a koala who recruits his best friend to help him drum up business for his theater by hosting a singing competition. It was previously announced that the animated comedy will also feature more than 85 songs. princeSinger/songwriter/composer Prince has passed away at age 57 at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Among his film music credits was the 1984 musical Purple Rain, for which he composed the score, which received the Academy Award in the Best Original Song Score category, as well as a Grammy Award. He also contributed several songs to the film, including the track When Doves Cry, which was nominated for a Golden Globe. jason-bourneJohn Powell and David Buckley have been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Jason Bourne. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) who previously helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum and stars Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie takes place seven years after The Bourne Ultimatum and follows the title character as he unexpectedly resurfaces at a time when the world is faced with unprecedented instability. Greengrass and editor Christopher Rouse have written the screenplay based on the characters created by Robert Ludlum. The show is created by Dan Franck and stars Gérard Depardieu, Benoît Magimel, Géraldine Pailhas, Nadia Farès, Gérard Meylan, Nassim Si Ahmed, Antoine Coesens, Nozha Khouadra and Maruschka Detmers. The 8-parter centers around the city election between the long-time mayor Robert Taro and a younger ambitious candidate. lostIt was announced today that Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Star Trek, The Incredibles, Jurassic World, Inside Out, Ratatouille) will conduct the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra, comprised of 44 musicians, in an evening of music and story from the ABC hit TV series, Lost. The event will take place on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Ford Theatres in Los Angeles. The show’s executive producers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will host the concert in celebration of the 12th Anniversary of the show’s premiere.
