Dubois Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series War & Peace. The album features the 6-parter’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (The Woman in Gold, Brighton Rock, Harry Brown, The Honorable Woman). Toby Chu has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania. The film is directed by Henry Yu (story artist on Sym-Bionic Titan and Hotel Transylvania) and features the voices of WWE stars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, WWE Diva Paige and Mr. McMahon. The sequel to the 2007 film follows Cody Maverick as he convinces an infamous big wave riding crew known as The Hang 5 to let him join them on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches, where legend has it, they’ll find the biggest waves in the world. Ryuichi Sakamoto to Be Honored at World Soundtrack Awards

Ryuichi Sakamoto has been chosen as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards at the Film Fest Gent, following the festival’s spotlight on Japanese cinema. A selection of his work will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé. Sakamoto’s best known film scoring credits include The Last Emperor, for which he received the Academy Award, Brian De Palma’s Snake Eyes and Femme Fatale, Little Buddha, The Sheltering Sky and Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. John Debney to Perform at CSUN Valley Performing Arts Center

Academy Award nominee John Debney wil join California State University, Northridge students and alumni in a special performance at the University featuring the world premiere of the Jungle Book Suite, as well as other selections from his work, including The Passion of the Christ and Iron Man 2. The concert will take place on Thursday, May 12 at 7:30pm at CSUN Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge, CA. The event will be preceded by an audience Q&A at 6:30pm.
