Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the superhero movie Wonder Woman directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. The film’s original music is composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan, The Crown). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as Sia’s original song To Be Human. Also opening wide is the animated feature Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie directed by David Soren and featuring the voices of Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Nick Kroll, Thomas Middleditch, Jordan Peele and Kristen Schaal. Theodore Shapiro (Ghostbusters, The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder) has composed the film’s original score and was also involved as co-writer and arranger/producer for several of the songs. Virgin Records has released a soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the composer’s score, as well as songs by Andy Grammar, Adam Lambert, Nathan Willett & more. Tom Cruise revealed in a recent interview with
Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna are composing the music for the upcoming animated feature The Breadwinner. The film based on young adult novel by Deborah Ellis is directed by Nora Twomey (The Secret of Kells). The movie tells the story of Parvana, a young girl living under the Taliban regime, who cuts her hair and disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for her family after her father is imprisoned. Anthony Leo and Andrew Rosen are producing the project for Aircraft Pictures, alongside Tomm Moore and Paul Young (Song of the Sea) for Cartoon Salon, and Stephan Roelants for Melusine Productions.
Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack EP for the indie comedy drama Band Aid. The album features the original songs from the film written by the movie’s director/star Zoe Lister-Jones and Kyle Forester and performed by The Dirty Dishes (Lister-Jones, Adam Pally & Fred Armisen). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the Israeli thriller Past Life. The album features the film’s original music composed by Cyrille Aufort (A Royal Affair, Splice, March of the Penguins 2, Ombline), as well as additional music by Avner Dorman and Ella Milch-Sheriff. Christophe Beck has recently composed the score for the upcoming holiday special Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. The animated short is directed by Kevin Deters & Stevie Wermers-Skelton (Prep & Landing, The Ballad of Nessie) and features the voices of Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Idina Menzel as their characters from the Frozen feature film. Roy Conli (Big Hero 6, Tangled) is producing the project. Kate Anderson and Elyssa Samsel have written original songs for the TV special. Beck has previously scored the 2013 original
The full details of the new soundtrack album for the USA drama Mr. Robot have been revealed. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Mac Quayle (American Horror Story, Feud, American Crime Story, Scream Queens). Columbia Records will release the official soundtrack album for Edgar Wright’s action comedy Baby Driver. The album features the songs from the movie by artists including the original track Chase Me by Danger Mouse feat.
