The movie version is also said to feature songs from Disney’s classic animated movie, for which Menken won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song (with Howard Ashman) and Best Original Score. The film marks the directorial debut of producer Mark Williams (Flawless) and stars Gerard Butler, Alison Brie, Willem Dafoe, Gretchen Mol and Alfred Molina. The movie follows a ruthless corporate headhunter who battles his rival for control of their job placement company, until a family tragedy brings his personal and professional lives into conflict. Bill Dubuque (The Judge) has written the screenplay. The movie follows two former high-school sweethearts who reflect on their shared past through the lens of their differently dissatisfied presents when they return to their tiny California hometown. Duplass has also written the screenplay and also serves as an executive producer on the project with his brother Jay. Mel Eslyn (The One I Love, Lamb) and Xan Aranda are producing the project.
