Penka Kouneva has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi drama Encounter. The film is written and directed by Paul Salamoff and stars Luke Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Cheryl Texiera, Tom Atkins, Dean S. Jagger, Vincent M. Ward and Christopher Showerman. The film movie follows a group of friends who make a remarkable discovery in a rural field. Two new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby directed by Tom McGrath and featuring the voices of Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow and Miles Bakshi. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Gladiator, Inception, The Dark Knight) and Steve Mazzaro (Bullet to the Head). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score. Check out our previous article for the full album details.
Also opening wide is the film adaptation of Ghost in the Shell directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt. Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Noah) and Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Terminator Genisys) have composed the film’s original music. Paramount Pictures has released a soundtrack album featuring songs from and inspired by the movie (click here for the full details). ‘The Blackcoat’s Daughter’ Soundtrack Released

Death Waltz Recordings has released a soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Blackcoat’s Daughter. The album features the film’s original music composed by Elvis Perkins. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio samples. Mondo will release a vinyl version next month. The Blackcoat’s Daughter is directed by Osgood Perkins and stars Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton, Lauren Holly and James Remar. Redrocca will release the scores for two shorts by late director Dan Ireland, Hate from a Distance and A Most Peculiar Man. The music for both films is composed by Tom Howe (Charming) and Harry Gregson-Williams (The Martian, The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven) who also worked with the filmmaker on the features The Whole Wide World, Jolene and Passionada. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for Marc Webb’s drama Gifted. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (The Spectacular Now, Nerve, Going In Style, Foxcatcher, The Way Way Back) who previously collaborated with the director on (500) Days of Summer. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 7, 2017. Also included is a track by Timothy Seth Avett and Crooked Still’s song Pretty Bird.
