Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the classic Fox TV series 21 Jump Street created by Patrick Hasburgh & Stephen J. Cannell and starring Johnny Depp, Holly Robinson, Peter DeLuise, Dustin Nguyen, Richard Grieco and Steven Williams. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Peter Bernstein (The Ewok Adventures, Canadian Bacon, Class Reunion, Silent Rage, Chicago Hope), as well as the main titles theme by performed by Holly Robinson. Void Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the post-apocalyptic thriller The Worthy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, Annabelle, Dark Skies, The Other Side of the Door). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, February 23 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The Worthy is directed by Ali F. Mostafa and stars Ali Suliman, Mahmoud Al Atrash and Samer al Masri. Stephen Warbeck is reteaming with director Richard Eyre on the upcoming new film adaptation of King Lear. The TV movie based on the classic Shakepeare play is written and directed by Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, Iris) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, Florence Pugh, Christopher Eccleston, Jim Broadbent and Andrew Scott. The drama is set in a fictional version of present-day England and tells the story of the eponymous ruler, presiding over a totalitarian military dictatorship in England. Alexandre Desplat has received his third BAFTA Award for his score for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water in the Original Music category today at the ceremony at the Orange British Academy Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London. Marc Chouarain is reuniting with Melanie Laurent on the upcoming thriller Galveston. The movie is based on the novel by Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) and follows a hitman who rescues a young prostitute and flees with her to Galveston, Texas, where the two find strength in each other as dangerous pursuers and the shadows of their pasts follow close behind. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide:
Opening in most theaters is Marvel Studios’ Black Panther directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Andy Serkis. Ludwig Goransson (Creed, Community, Fruitvale Station) has composed the film’s original score. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek) & Tom Howe (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women) have composed the film’s original score. Mercury Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as new songs by New Hope Club and The Vamps and a track by Kaiser Chiefs.
