Universal Music has released the first soundtrack release for the 2010 thriller The Killer Inside Me directed by Michael Winterbottom based on the novel by Jim Thompson and starring Kate Hudson, Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba. The album features the film’s original score composed by Melissa Parmenter & Joel Cadbury (Comes a Bright Day). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The label has also released Parmenter’s score for the 2008 feature Genova (aka A Summer in Genoa) co-written and directed by Winterbottom and starring Colin Firth, Catherine Keener and Hope Davis. Meliam Music will release a soundtrack album for the sports drama The Miracle Season. The album features the film’s original music composed by Roque Banos (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead, In the Heart of the Sea, The Machinist, Risen). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 15, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Miracle Season is directed by Sean McNamara and stars Helen Hunt, William Hurt, Danika Yarosh and Erin Moriarty. The movie is based on a true story and follows the West High School girls’ volleyball team as they band together after the loss of the school’s star player in hope of winning the state championship. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy Life of the Party directed by Ben Falcone and starring Melissa McCarthy, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon, Stephen Root and Jacki Weaver. The film’s original score is composed by Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, How to Be Single, CHiPs). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by Meghan Trainor, Blind Scuba Divers, Chick Norris, Cyndi Lauper & more. Also opening wide is the thriller Breaking In directed by James McTeigue and starring Gabrielle Union, Billy Burke, Richard Cabral, Seth Karr, Ajiona Alexus, Levi Meaden, Jason George and Christa Miller. Johnny Klimek (Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run, One Hour Photo, Sense8, The International) has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the music by Klimek and additional music composer Gabriel Mounsey and a song by James Earl Jones II. Variety is reporting that Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky, Snake Eyes) will be composing the theme for the upcoming drama Paradise Next. The film is directed by Japanese composer Yoshihiro Hanno (Mountains May Depart, Dragonfly Eyes) who previously helmed the 2015 feature A Woman Wavering in the Rain) and is set to star Satoshi Tsumbuki and Etsushi Toyokawa. Christopher Lennertz is reteaming with director Tim Story on the upcoming Shaft sequel. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson & Jessie T. Usher as father and son, as well as Richard Roundtree, Alexandra Shipp, Regina Hall, Avan Jogia and Method Man. The movie centers on the young and old Shafts as they are are forced to team up. Jackson is reprising his role from John Singleton’s 2000 Shaft movie, which was scored by David Arnold and featured Isaac Hayes’ classic theme from the 1971 original film.
