John Paesano (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Daredevil, The Maze Runner, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Cheaper by the Dozen, Truth Be Told) & Adam Hochstatter are returning to score the upcoming Disney+ original animated movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: The Getaway. The film directed by Matt Danner is the fifth animated feature adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s popular book series and follows the Heffley family who make a last-minute decision (to Greg’s dismay) to escape to an all-inclusive island resort for some much-needed rest and relaxation and soon discover that paradise may not be everything it’s cracked up to. Kinney also wrote the screenplay and is producing the project. Paesano has previously scored the first three animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies (and also composed the music for the Danner-directed 2022 Disney+ movie Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again) and co-scored last year’s fourth installment (The Last Straw) with Hochstatter who also contributed additional music to the first three movies. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: The Getaway will premiere on December 4, 2026 exclusively on Disney+.
