Premiering tomorrow, August 12 is The Terror: Infamy, the second season of the AMC anthology series The Terror, created by Alexander Woo & Max Borenstein and starring Derek Mio, Kiki Sukezane, Cristina Rodlo, Shingo Usami, Naoko Mori, Miki Ishikawa and George Takei. The show’s original music is composed by Mark Korven (The Witch, Cube, Our House, Awakening the Zodiac). Premiering on Thursday, August 15, is the CBS All Access original series Why Women Kill created by Marc Cherry and starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Lucy Liu, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Alexandra Daddario, Jack Davenport, Sadie Calvano, Reid Scott and Sam Yaeger. Mateo Messina (Juno, Blockers, Superstore, Barely Lethal) is composing the show’s original music. Instrumental Version of ‘Aladdin’ Soundtrack Released

Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin. The album features instrumental versions of all the songs from the movie composed by Alan Menken (with lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice and Benj Pasek & Justin Paul). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. In related news, the label will also release a vinyl edition featuring all the songs from the movie next Friday, August 16. Click here to order the Aladdin: The Songs vinyl album. The original soundtrack album featuring both songs and score from the movie directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott was released back in May. Five new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the family adventure Dora and the Lost City of Gold directed by James Bobin and starring Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Nicholas Coombe and Madeleine Madden. The film’s original score is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book) & Germaine Franco (Tag, Dope). Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music. Click here for the full album details. Also opening wide is the horror thriller Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark directed by André Øvredal and starring Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn. Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream, A Quiet Place, Logan) & Anna Dubrich have composed the film’s original music. John Debney Scoring Michael Tiddes’ ‘Sextuplets’

John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Iron Man 2, Elf) has composed the original score for the new Netflix original movie Sextuplets. The film is directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House, Naked) and stars Marlon Wayans, Bresha Webb, Michael Ian Black, Debbi Morgan and Molly Shannon. ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ Soundtrack Details

Entertainment One Music will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream, A Quiet Place, Logan, World War Z, The Hurt Locker) and Anna Drubrich. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 30 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is set to come out on November 1 and is available to order here. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is directed by André Øvredal and stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn. Lana Del Rey’s ‘Season of the Witch’ Cover from ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ Released

Interscope Records has released Lana Del Rey’s cover version of Donovan’s Season of the Witch from the horror thriller Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The song is now available as a digital single and can be downloaded on Amazon. Also listen to the song after the jump. A full soundtrack album for the movie featuring the original score by Marco Beltrami & Anna Dubrich will be released later this month and will be announced soon. ‘Yellowstone’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Released

The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Brian Tyler (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Now You See Me, Crazy Rich Asians). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Sony Classical has previously released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music from the first season. ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the animated sequel The Angry Birds Movie 2. The album features the film’s original score composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, Smallfoot, Beverly Hills Chihuahua) who previously scored the original 2016 The Angry Birds Movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 9 and will be available to download here. Also available now is Luke Combs’ original song Let’s Just Be Friends and Kesha’s Best Day Remix from the movie. The Angry Birds Movie 2 directed by Thurop Van Orman and starring Jason Sudeikis, Danny McBride, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Leslie Jones, Zach Woods, Bill Hader, Dove Cameron, Rachel Bloom, Lil Rel Howery, Awkwafina, Beck Bennett, Sterling K. Nell Benjamin and Laurence O’Keefe to Develop Original Movie Musical

Deadline is reporting that Nell Benjamin and Laurence O’Keefe are currently working on an untitled comedy movie musical for Universal Pictures. They are writing both the songs and screenplay for the project, which is produced by Scott Sanders (The Odd Life of Timothy Green) & Mara Jacobs at Scott Sanders Productions. The producers are also involved in movie adaptations of the musicals In the Heights and The Color Purple. Benjamin & O’Keefe have previously teamed up for the stage production Legally Blonde: The Musical, which received seven Tony Award nominations. Read the rest of this entry »
