‘Overlord’ Soundtrack Details

Paramount Music will release the official soundtrack album for the war horror movie Overlord. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jed Kurzel (Alien: Covenant, Assassin’s Creed, Macbeth, The Snowtown Murders, Son of a Gun). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 9 and will be available to download on Amazon. Overlord is directed by Julius Avery and stars Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, John Magaro and Mathilde Ollivier. The movie produced by J.J. Abrams is set on the eve of D-Day during World War II and follows a group of soldiers as they realize that there’s more going on in a Nazi occupied village than a simple military operation. Marco Beltrami (Logan3:10 to YumaScreamThe WolverineWorld War Z) & Miles Hankins (Len and Company, Being Serena) have recently composed the original score for the upcoming comedy Flarsky. The film is directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Wackness) and stars Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Alexander Skarsgård, Randall Park, Bob Odenkirk and Andy Serkis. The movie follows a down on his luck journalist, who through a string of comedic circumstances catches the attention of the world’s most powerful woman and becomes an important part of her inner circle in her journey to become the first female president of the United States. Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the BBC Earth docu-series Dynasties. The album features the show’s original music composed by Benji Merrison and Will Slater (Africa, One Strange Rock, Planet Earth Live) and performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Sunday, November 11 (click here to download) and physically on December 14. Check back on this page for the CD pre-order link. Dynasties is produced by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit and highlights five of the world’s most celebrated but endangered animals, as they do whatever it takes to survive and protect the next generation. Flying Lotus to Score Netflix’s ‘Yasuke’

Netflix has announced that Flying Lotus will be composing the music for the upcoming Netflix anime series Yasuke. The show is created by LeSean Thomas (The Boondocks, Cannon Busters) and centers on a retired ronin (voiced by Lakeith Stanfield) who must take up his sword when he is charged with the task of transporting a mysterious child who dark forces want to eliminate. Flying Lotus and Thomas are also executive producing the project for the anime studio MAPPA (Yuri On Ice, Kakegurui). Read the rest of this entry »

ITV’s ‘Deep Water’ to Feature Music by Toydrum

Toydrum (aka Pablo Clements and James Griffith) have signed on to score the upcoming ITV series Deep Water. The show is written by Anna Symon (Indian Summers) based on the Windermere series of novels by Paula Daly and stars Anna Friel, Sinead Keenan and Rosalind Eleazar. The 6-parter follows the lives of three complex and vibrant women, each struggling to keep their heads above very deep water. Symon is also executive producing the project with Karen Wilson (Utopia, MI-5, The Tunnel) and Diederick Santer (Grantchester, Flowers). Read the rest of this entry »

Francis Lai (1932 – 2018)

French composer Francis Lai has passed away at age 86. He is best known for his score for Arthur Hiller’s 1970 feature Love Story, for which he received an Academy Award and a Golden Globe, and also earned a Grammy Award nomination. Lai was also Golden Globe-nominated for his score and songs from Claude Lelouch’s 1966 drama A Man and a Woman and 1967 movie Live for Life. In 2014, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Soundtrack Awards. Among the composer’s other film scoring credits are Lelouch’s Bolero, David Hamilton’s Bilitis and Michael Winner’s I’ll Never Forget What’s’isname. A soundtrack album will be released for the indie drama Heart, Baby!. The album features the songs from the movie, including original tracks by actor Jackson Rathbone who also stars in the film, as well as Andy Dixon and Doug Lowe. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 16 and is now available for pre-order on AmazonHeart, Baby! is written and directed by Angela Shelton and also stars Gbenga Akinnagbe, Shawn-Caulin Young, Keir O’Donnell, Shaun Brown, Justice Leak, Quinton Aaron, Jamie Kennedy, Abraham Benrubi, Dana Gourrier and Ann Cusack. Thomas Newman is currently recording his score for the upcoming biographical drama Tolkien. The film is directed by Dome Karukoski (Tom of Finland) and stars Nicholas Hoult, Lily Collins, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts and Colm Meaney. The movie tells the story of author J.R.R. Tolkien, author of the Lord of the Rings books, as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school and serves as a British soldier in World War I. Lotus Production has released a soundtrack album for Paolo Virzi’s Italian comedy Notti Magiche. The album features the film’s original music composed by Carlo Virzi (The Leisure SeekerHuman CapitalThe First Beautiful ThingMy Name Is Tanino). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Notti Magiche is co-written and directed by Paolo Virzi and stars Mauro Lamantia, Giovanni Toscano, Irene Vetere, Roberto Herlitzka, Marina Rocco, Paolo Sassanelli and Annalisa Arena. The movie explores the golden age of Italian cinema in Rome through the tale of three promising screenwriters who turn out to be the main suspects for the murder of a famous producer. Bruno Coulais is attached to score the upcoming French crime comedy La Daronne. The film is directed by Jean-Paul Salome (Adventures of Arsene Lupin) and stars Isabelle Huppert. The movie is based on Hannelore Cayre’s novel of the same title and  follows a French-Arabic translator working for the anti-drug squad in Paris. Salome and Cayre co-wrote the screenplay. Kristina Larsen (Farewell, My Queen, Diary of a Chambermaid) is producing the project for Les Films du Lendemain, alongside Jean-Baptiste Dupont (Point Blank, Me, Myself and Mum) for La Boetie Films.
