Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album for Stephanie Soechtig’s documentary The Devil We Know. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast & Furious, Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me) who previously scored Soechtig’s Under the Gun. The Devil We Know centers on one of the biggest environmental scandals of our time, as a group of citizens in West Virginia take on a powerful corporation after they discover it has knowingly been dumping a toxic chemical into the local drinking water supply. THR is reporting that the music branch of the Academy Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has ruled the original score for Peter Farrelly’s comedy drama Green Book ineligible in the Best Original Score category for next year’s Academy Awards. The Academy is citing its rule that states that a score “shall not be eligible if it has been diluted by the use of pre-existing music, or it has been diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs or any music not composed specifically for the film by the submitting composer”. Kris Bowers (Dear White People, For the People) has composed the score for the film, which features several musical performances by the The Don Shirley Trio (led by Mahershala Ali who portrays pianist Shirley in the movie), as well some period songs. The album features the original music from the show’s first season composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Mary Queen of Scots, Hostiles, Miss Sloane, Taboo, Waltz with Bashir). Also included are a number of classical pieces by Camille Saint-Saëns, Erik Satie and Claude Debussy. Colette is directed by by Wash Westmoreland and stars Keira Knightley, Dominic West, Denise Gough, Fiona Shaw, Robert Pugh and Eleanor Tomlinson. Max Richter is scoring the upcoming sci-fi drama Ad Astra. The film is directed by James Gray (The Lost City of Z, We Own the Night, The Immigrant) and stars Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. The movie follows a man who journeys across the solar system in search of his missing father, a dangerous renegade scientist. Gray also co-wrote the screenplay with Ethan Gross. Pitt and Grey are also producing the project for Plan B’s Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, Moonlight, The Big Short) and RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira (Call Me By Your Name), Keep Your Head Productions’ Anthony Katagas (Nerve). Lakeshore Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the sci-fi drama Travelers. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Adam Lastiwka. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, December 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. In addition, Lastiwka will release a streamable 27-minute continuous mix of music from season one. The track, which will consist of every piece of music from season one, episode three, as a continuous cue, will be available on Bandcamp through Lakeshore Records on December 14.The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the first season.
