Bette Midler has announced that she will be performing the original song The Place Where Lost Things Go from Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. The song, which is performed in the movie by Emily Blunt, is written by Marc Shaiman (who is also one of the nominees in the Best Original Score category) & Scott Wittman. Jeff Toyne (Rogue, Dirty Girl, 9/11, You Me Her) has recently composed the music for the upcoming thriller Daughter of the Wolf. The film is directed by David Hackl (Saw V, Into the Grizzly Maze) and stars Richard Dreyfuss, Gina Carano, Brendan Fehr, Anton Gillis-Adelman and Sydelle Noel. The movie follows a woman who returns home from her tour in the Middle East to the news of her father’s passing. Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action adventure Alita: Battle Angel directed by Robert Rodriguez, produced by James Cameron and starring Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein and Jackie Earle Haley. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (click here for the full album details). Also available now is the original end credits track Swan Song performed by Dua Lipa (click here for more information).
Also opening wide is the slasher sequel Happy Death Day 2U directed by Christopher Landon and starring Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Phi Vu, Suraj Sharma and Ruby Modine. ‘Superman: The Movie’ 40th Anniversary Edition Soundtrack Album Announced

La-La Land Records has announced the details for its latest limited edition soundtrack albums, including a 40th Anniversary Remastered Edition for Richard Donner’s 1978 classic Superman: The Movie starring Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman and Margot Kidder. The 3-CD set features the film’s complete score composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark) on the first two discs (including alternate and additional cues), and a remastered version of the original 1978 soundtrack album on the third disc. ‘Swoon’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the Swedish fantasy romance Swoon (Eld & Lågor). The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Taken series, Colombiana, The Grandmaster, Transporter: The Series, Shut In). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. A CD version will be coming out soon from Music Box Records. Swoon is written and directed by Mans Marlind & Bjorn Stein and stars Pernilla August, Albin Grenholm, Frida Gustavsson and Robert Gustafson. Lakeshore Records will release two soundtrack albums for the Netflix animated series The Dragon Prince. The albums feature selections of the original music from the show’s first two seasons composed by Frederik Wiedmann (Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Field of Lost Shoes, Hangman, Intruders, Acts of Vengeance).
