It was announced today that acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel will be guiding the baton for the film’s recording of Leonard Bernstein’s score for Steven Spielberg’s new film adaptation of West Side Story. As previously reportedDavid Newman (Anastasia, Ice Age, Serenity) will be arranging the Bernstein score for the new adaptation. Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori (Broadway’s Fun Home and Thoroughly Modern Millie) will be working with the cast on vocals and Matt Sullivan (Beauty and the BeastChicago) will serve as executive music producer for the film. Sony Music has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1984 classic Ghostbusters directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis. The album, which coincides with the movie’s 35h anniversary, features the film’s original score composed by Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Airplane, Far from Heaven), newly mixed and remastered from the score’s original multi-tracks, as well as new artwork, commentary from Elmer’s son, Peter Bernstein, and four previously unreleased tracks.
