Premiering tonight is the Showtime original series City on a Hill created by Chuck MacLean based on an original idea by Ben Affleck and starring Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Kevin Chapman and Jill Hennessy. The show’s original music is composed by Kevin Kiner (CSI: Miami, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, Narcos: Mexico, Titans). Also premiering tonight is the HBO original series Euphoria developed by Sam Levinson based on the Israeli show of the title and starring Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane and Storm Reid. Labrinth (aka Timothy Lee McKenzie) is composing the show’s original music. Eric Neveux to Score ‘SamSam’ Movie Adaptation

Eric Neveux (The Insult, The Attack, A Stork’s Journey, Zombillennium, Spirou & Fantasio’s Big Adventures) has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature SamSam. The film  directed by Tanguy de Kermel is based on the comic books created by Serge Bloch and the animated TV series of the same title and follows the title character as he is conscientiously seeking his first-ever superpower but is winding up empty-handed every time. Didier Brunner (The Triplets of Belleville, Ernest & Celestine) & Damien Brunner (Pachama, The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales…) and Gaëtan David (The Source) are producing the Folivari production.  Read the rest of this entry »

HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ to Feature Original Score by Labrinth

Singer/songwriter and record producer Labrinth (aka Timothy Lee McKenzie) is making his television scoring debut on the new HBO original series Euphoria. The show is developed by Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation, The Wizard of Lies) based on the Israeli show of the same name and stars Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King and Storm Reid. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action comedy Men in Black: International directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Larry Bourgeois, Rafe Spall, Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland) & Chris Bacon (Source Code, Gnomeo & Juliet). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Click here for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the Shaft sequel directed by Tim Story and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Jesse T. Usher, Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Lauria, Titus Welliver, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and Richard Roundtree. Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Agent Carter, Ride Along) has composed the film’s original score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie (including the original track Too Much Shaft performed by Quavo with Saweetie). Sturgill Simpson’s ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ Song Released

Elektra Records has released the original song The Dead Don’t Die from the movie of the same title. The track, which is written and performed by Sturgill Simpson, is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. As previously reported, Back Lot Music has released a full soundtrack album featuring the movie’s original score composed by SQÜRL. The Dead Don’t Die written and directed by Jim Jarmusch and starring Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop, Selena Gomez and Tom Waits is being released in theaters nationwide today by Focus Features. Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed, When a Stranger Calls, A Series of Unfortunate Events) is scoring the upcoming Netflix original movie Secret Obsession. The film is directed by Peter Sullivan (Jingle Belle, Wrapped up in Christmas) and stars Brenda Song, Mike Vogel and Dennis Haysbert. The thriller follows a young woman who suffers from amnesia after a brutal attack, but when her memories start coming back, she realizes she no longer knows who to trust. John Williams’ & Anne-Sophie Mutter’s ‘Across the Stars’ Album Announced

Deutsche Grammophon has announced the full details of John Williams‘ & Anne-Sophie Mutter‘s Across the Stars album.  The album features the Academy Award-winning composer conducting new arrangements of some of his iconic movie themes, including pieces written for the Star Wars and Harry Potter movies, Schindler’s List, Memoirs of a Geisha, Far and Away, Sabrina & more, with violin solos by Mutter. Across the Stars was recorded at the historic Sony Pictures Scoring Stage in Hollywood and will be released on August 30, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Kevin Kiner (CSI: Miami, Star Wars Rebels, Hell on Wheels, Wing Commander, Jane the Virgin) is the composer of the new Showtime original series City on a Hill. The show is created by Chuck MacLean based on an original idea by Ben Affleck and stars Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman and Jill Hennessy. ‘Sometime Always Never’ Soundtrack Released

Analogue Enhanced Digital Limited has released a soundtrack album for the British comedy drama Sometimes Always Never.  The album features the film’s original music composed by Edwyn Collins and Sean Read. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Sometimes Always Never is directed by Carl Hunter and stars Bill Nighy, Sam Riley, Alice Lowe, Jenny Agutter and Tim McInnerny. Soundtrack Album for Channel 4’s ‘The Virtues’ to Be Released

Invada Records will release soundtrack album for the Channel 4 series The Virtues. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by PJ Harvey. Also included are tracks by Toydrum, Mono, Lisa Hannigan, Aphex Twin, Ted Barnes, Micah P. Hinson & others. The soundtrack will be available digitally tomorrow, June 14 and can be purchased by clicking here. The Virtues is written by Shane Meadows & Jack Thorne and stars Stephen Graham, Helen Behan, Niamh Algar and Frank Laverty.
