Cliff Martinez has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Game Night. The film is directed by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation, Spider-Man: Homecoming) and stars Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, Kyle Chandler, Jesse Plemons, Jeffrey Wright, Lamorne Morris, Kylie Bunbury and Billy Magnussen. The movie follows several couples who gather for their regularly-planned game night and find themselves trying to solve a murder mystery. Bateman is also producing the New Line Cinema production with James Garavente (The Family Fang), as well as John Davis (Predator, I, Robot, The Firm) and John Fox (The Blacklist). Marc Streitenfeld is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Come Sunday. The film is written and directed by Joshua Marston (Maria Full of Grace, Complete Unknown) and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Sheen, Jason Segel, Condola Rashad, Danny Glover and Lakeith Stanfield. The movie is based on a 2005 This American Life segment entitled Heretics and tells the story of a minister in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who loses his congregation of thousands following the revelation that he no longer believes in hell. Marcus Hinchey (All Good Things) wrote the screenplay. Ira Glass (Don’t Think Twice, Sleepwalk with Me), Alissa Shipp and James D. Stern (Looper, I’m Not There.) are producing the project. Premiering tonight is the PBS docu-series The Vietnam War directed by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and David Cieri have composed the show’s original score. Universal Music have released two soundtrack albums, including an album featuring Reznor’s & Ross’ score, as well as a separate album featuring the songs from the series by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel & more. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow is the British mini-series The State written and directed by Peter Kosminsky and starring Sam Otto, Ryan McKen, Shavani Cameron, Ony Uhiara and Nana Agyeman-Bediako. The 4-parter’s original music is composed by Debbie Wiseman (Wolf Hall, Father Brown, Vampire Killers). The show centers on the lives of four British citizens who join ISIS in Syria. Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the action thriller The Foreigner. The album features the film’s original music composed by Cliff Martinez (Drive, Solaris, Traffic, Contagion, Sex, Lies and Videotapes). Enjoy The Ride Records and Enjoy The Toons, in conjunction with Morgan Creek, have announced the world premiere official release of the original score for the 1995 comedy sequel Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls directed by Steve Oedekerk and starring Jim Carrey. The film’s original music is composed and conducted by Robert Folk (Police Academy, Tremors, Nothing to Lose, The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter, There Be Dragons). The soundtrack is being released on colored vinyl and will also include a digital download code. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller American Assassin directed by Michael Cuesta and starring Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan, Taylor Kitsch, Shiva Negar and Scott Adkins. The film’s original music is composed by Steven Price (Gravity, Suicide Squad, Fury, Baby Driver, The World’s End). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the psychological thriller mother! written and directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Brian Gleeson, Domhnall Gleeson, Stephen McHattie and Kristen Wiig. he film doesn’t feature an original score. Johann Johannsson who was originally scoring the film is credited as the project’s “music & sound consultant”. No soundtrack album has been released. Madison Gate Records will release a score album for the NBC drama The Blacklist. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Dave Porter (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Preacher, The Disaster Artist). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, September 22, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring a number of songs from the show’s first two season back in 2015.
