Carter Burwell is set to reteam with the Coen Brothers on the upcoming Netflix original series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. The show is written and directed by Joel & Ethan Coen and stars Tim Blake Nelson, James Franco, Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly, Ralph Ineson and Stephen Root. The western anthology series will feature six tales about the American frontier. Each chapter will feature a distinct story about the American West. Hollywood Records will release the official soundtrack album for Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO MovieCloudy with a Chance of MeatballsThe Royal Tenenbaums21/22 Jump Street). Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) has signed on to score the upcoming biographical drama Young Astrid. The film is directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen (A Soap, A Family) and stars Alba August in the title role, alongside Maria Bonnevie, Magnus Krepper, Trine Dyrholm, Henrik Rafaelsen and Björn Gustafsson. The movie focuses on an event that occurred when Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren was very young and that came to shape her adult life, writing talent and aspirations. Jeff Beal has been tapped to score the upcoming Nat Geo original mini-series The Long Road Home. The 8-parter is developed by Mikko Alanne (The 33) and stars Michael Kelly, Jason Ritter, Kate Bosworth, Sarah Wayne Callies, Jeremy Sisto and Noel Fisher, Jon Beavers, E.J. Bonilla, Jorge Diaz, Darius Homayoun and Patrick Schwarzenegger. WaterTower Music and La-La Land Records will release the second soundtrack album for the CW drama Supergirl. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Riverdale, Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, Everwood). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow. A CD version is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Lakeshore Records has announced a special edition soundtrack for Todd Haynes’ drama Wonderstruck. The album features the film’s original music composed by Carter Burwell (FargoCarol, Being John MalkovichTwilightIn BrugesTrue Grit), including three additional bonus tracks not included on the regular release. The soundtrack will be released digitally exclusively on Amazon on October 20 and is now available for pre-order here. The full details of the fifth soundtrack album for the CW hit drama Arrow have been revealed.
