Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series The Righteous Gemstones created by  Danny McBride and starring himself, John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam Devine, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams. The show’s original music composed by Joseph Stephens (Observe and Report, Flower, Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals). Premiering on Wednesday, August 21, is the Hulu original series This Way Up created by Aisling Bea who also stars in the comedy alongside Sharon Horgan, Aasif Mandvi, Tobias Menzies, Indira Varma, Sorcha Cusack, Chris Geere, Kadiff Kirwan, Ricky Grover and Daniela Spataru. Vince Pope (Misfits, Undercover, Bedlam) is composing the show’s original music. The comedy, which is co-produced by Channel 4, follows a whip-smart English-as-a-foreign language teacher as she is trying to pull her life back together after a nervous breakdown. Soundtrack Album for Hulu’s ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ TV Series Released

Virgin EMI Records has released a soundtrack album for the Hulu original series Four Weddings and a Funeral. The album features a selection of songs from the show’s first season, including Skylar Grey’s original song New Kind of Love, Emeli Sandé’s cover of For Once In My Life, Lily Moore’s cover of Heart of Glass and . Also included are tracks by Jamie N Common, Calum Scott, HRVY & others. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Four Weddings and a Funeral is developed by Mindy Kaling & Matt Warburton based on the 1994 movie of the same title and stars Zoe Boyle, Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Sophia La Porta, Harish Patel, Nikesh Patel, John Reynolds, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Brandon Mychal Smith. Five new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Already playing in theaters since this past Tuesday is the animated sequel The Angry Birds Movie 2 directed by Thurop Van Orman and starring Jason Sudeikis, Danny McBride, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Leslie Jones. The film’s original score is composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Smurfs). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Also opening wide is the shark thriller 47 Meters Down: Uncaged directed by Johannes Roberts and starring Sophie Nélisse, Corinne Foxx, Brianne Tju, Sistine Stallone, Davi Santos, Khylin Rhambo, Brec Bassinger, John Corbett and Nia Long. tomandandy (The Strangers, Resident Evil: Retribution, The Mothman Prophecies) have composed the film’s original music. ‘Dark’ Cycle 2 Soundtrack Album Released

Lakeshore Records and Invada Records have released the second soundtrack album for the German Netflix original series Dark. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Ben Frost (Super Dark Times, Sleeping Beauty, Fortitude, The Deep). Dark – Cycle 2 is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. A first soundtrack album for the drama featuring the composer’s score from the first season was released back in June. Dark is created by Baran bo Odar & Jantje Friese and tells the story of a missing child who sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers as they unearth a mind-bending mystery that spans three generations. Michael Giacchino & Nami Melumad to Score Brandon Trost’s ‘An American Pickle’

Michael Giacchino (Up, Star Trek, Lost, Jurassic World, The Incredibles, Ratatouille) is teaming up with Nami Melumad (Absentia) to score the upcoming comedy An American Pickle. The film marks the feature solo directorial debut of cinematographer Brandon Trost and stars Seth Rogen, Maya Erskine and Sarah Snook. The movie revolves around an immigrant worker at a pickle factory who is accidentally preserved for a century and wakes up in modern day Brooklyn. Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman, Miracle Workers) wrote the screenplay. Rogen is also producing the Point Grey production with Evan Goldberg (This Is the End, The Interview) and James Weaver (Neighbors, The Disaster Artist). Read the rest of this entry »

‘Western Stars’ to Feature Original Score by Bruce Springsteen

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced today that Bruce Springsteen has composed the original score for his upcoming directorial debut Western Stars. The film co-directed by Springsteen and Thom Zimny (Elvis Presley: The Searcher, Springsteen on Broadway) is a cinematic film version of his latest album of the same title and follows the singer/songwriter as he performs his critically acclaimed latest album and muses on life, rock, and the American dream. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the Chinese thriller Bodies at Rest. The album features the film’s original music composed by Anthony Chue (Reign of Assassins, Invisible Target, Divergence). Bodies at Rest is directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger) and stars Nick Cheung, Richie Jen and Zi Yang. The 6-track EP features the film’s original music composed by Eicca Topinnen of the Finnish symphonic metal band Apocalyptica. Lionsgate Records will release a score album for the Netflix original series Dear White People. The album features selections of the original score from the first three seasons of the show composed by Kris Bowers (Green Book, When They See Us, Monsters and Men). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 16 and will be available to download on Amazon. Columbia Records has previously released two soundtrack albums featuring songs and score selections from the show’s first two seasons. Dear White People is created by Justin Simien based on his 2014 movie of the same title and stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Globe will release the official soundtrack album for the comedic crime thriller Driven. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Lego Batman Movie, Genius) (credited in the movie as music producer), Geronimo Mercado (Speed Kills) (credited as the principal composer), Kathryn Kluge & Kim Allen Kluge (Silence) and Max Aruj & Steffen Thum (Crawl). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 16 and will be available to download here.
