Jed Kurzel is reteaming with Jennifer Kent on the upcoming period thriller The Nightingale. The film is written and directed by Kent and stars Sam Claflin, Aisling Franciosi, Damon Herriman, Ewen Leslie, Harry Greenwood, Aboriginal Djuki Mala, Baykali Ganambarr and Magnolia Maymuru. The movie is set in Tasmania, Australia in 1825 and follows an Irish female convict who witnesses the brutal murder of her husband and baby by her soldier master and his cronies and takes an Aboriginal male tracker with her through the hellish wilderness to seek revenge on the men. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC and Starz limited series Howards End. The album features the show’s original music composed by Nico Muhly (The ReaderKill Your Darlings, Margaret, Joshua). The soundtrack is already available digitally in the UK and will be released digitally in the U.S. on January 5 and physically on April 6. Murray Gold has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC mini-series A Very English Scandal. The 3-parter is directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena, Dangerous Liaisons, High Fidelity) and stars Hugh Grant, Ben Whishaw, Alex Jennings, Patricia Hodge, Monica Dolan, Adrian Scarborough, Jason Watkins, Eve Myles, Michele Dotrice and Blake Harrison. The drama tells the story of British politician Jeremy Thorpe who was accused of murdering his ex-lover and was forced to stand trial in 1979. Russell T. The Newton Brothers are currently scoring the upcoming sci-fi thriller Extinction. The film is directed by Ben Young (Hounds of Love) and stars Michael Peña, Lizzy Caplan, Mike Colter, Lilly Aspell, Emma Booth and Israel Broussard. The movie follows a father who suffers from a recurring dream about the loss of his family while witnessing the force bent on destruction. A soundtrack album will be released for the French comedy drama Madame. The album features the film’s original music composed by Matthieu Gonet (Santa & Cie). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, November 17, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon,where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Aardman Animations co-founder Peter Lord  confirmed on Twitter that Harry Gregson-Williams is currently recording his score for the upcoming animated feature Early Man. The music is being recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. The movie is directed by Nick Park (Chicken RunThe Curse of the Were-Rabbit) and features the voice talent of Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, Timothy Spall and Richard Ayoade. Premiering tomorrow, November 12, in the U.S. is the British comedy Ill Behaviour written by Sam Bain (Peep Show), directed by Steve Bendelack (Friday Night Dinner) and starring Chris Geere, Tom Riley and Lizzy Caplan. The mini-series’ original music is composed by Rael Jones (My Cousin Rachel, Suite Francaise, Harlots). The 6-parter follows a man who is determined to save his friend when he announces he is stopping chemotherapy for his cancer in favor of a more natural treatment. Joseph Trapanese is credited as co-composer of the original score for the upcoming movie musical The Greatest Showman. He joined John Debney who was announced as the score composer earlier this year. Trapanese also produced several of the original songs written for the film by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. As previously reported, a soundtrack album featuring the songs will be released on December 8 by Atlantic Records. The Greatest Showman is directed by Michael Gracey and stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya. The movie is inspired by the imagination of P.T.
