Weekly Film Music Roundup (March 20, 2020)

As there are currently no new major movies opening in theaters, the weekly film music roundup will feature notable titles that were set to receive a theatrical release and are instead being released on VOD over the next couple of weeks. Movies that are premiering exclusively on streaming services will keep being included in our weekly TV music roundup every Sunday.

Opening on VOD following its debut on DirecTV last month is the drama Human Capital directed by Marc Meyers, written by Oren Moverman and starring Liev Schreiber, Marisa Tomei, Peter Sarsgaard, Maya Hawke, Alex Wolff, Paul Sparks, Aasif Mandvi and Fred Hechinger. The film’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Wonder, Fences, The Good Shepherd, The Affair, Ray Donovan, Enough Said). No word on a soundtrack release. Soundtrack Album for Disney Junior’s ‘Mira, Royal Detective’ Released

Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album for the new Disney Junior original series Mira, Royal Detective. The album features the original songs from the show written by Matthew Tishler (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and Jeannie Lurie (The Muppets), including the theme song, as well as Mira’s signature song We’re on the Case, which is arranged by series music consultant Deepak Ramapriyan. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Mira, Royal Detective is inspired by Indian cultures and customs and features the voice talent of Freida Pinto, Kal Penn, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Hannah Simone, Jameela Jamil and Leela Ladnier. Nainita Desai (For Sama, Enemy Within, Telling Lies, Darkness Visible) is the composer of the upcoming Quibi original series Fierce Queens. The show is narrated by Reese Witherspoon and takes an in depth look at female animals: the rebel matriarchs, powerful leaders and dangerous lovers of the natural world. The docu-series aims to depict the most dramatic natural history stories from a fresh female perspective.  Jo Shinner (Earth from Space) is executive producing the BBC Studios Natural History Unit production. Scoring Records has released a soundtrack album for the German family adventure Lassie Come Home (Lassie – Eine abenteuerliche Reise). The album features the film’s original music composed by Enis Rotthoff (Guns Akimbo, Look Who’s Back, Wetlands, Four Against the Bank, Godless Youth). Lassie Come Home is directed by Hanno Olderdissen and stars Nico Marischka, Sebastian Bezzel, Anna Maria Mühe, Christoph Letkowski and Johann von Bülow. The movie is based on Eric Knight novel’s of the same title and follows a 12-year-old boy and his beloved dog who get separated, when the dog  embarks on an adventurous journey across Germany to be reunited. BMG has released original song Lost Girl from the Netflix original film Lost Girls. The track is performed by singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams who also co-wrote it with Tom Overby. The song is now available to stream/download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. As previously reported, Downtown Records has previously released Lola Kirke’s Beautiful Dreamer as featured in the film. WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for tonight’s special musical episode of The CW drama Katy Keene, entitled Kiss of the Spider Woman. The album features the songs from the seventh episode of the show (originally written for the stage musical by John Kander & Fred Ebb) performed by cast members including Lucy Hale, Ashleigh Murray, Jonny Beauchamp, Julia Chan, Nathan Lee Graham, Daphne Rubin Vega and Candace Maxwell. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 20 and will be available to stream/download here. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Stuffed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ben Lovett (The Signal, The Ritual, Synchronicity, The Wind, Black Rock, Don Peyote). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Stuffed is directed by Erin Derham and explores the surprising world of taxidermy, where sculptors must also be scientists. The movie follows a group of passionate experts – from a studio in Los Angeles that has elevated taxidermy to the forefront of fashion, to fine artists in the Netherlands – as they push creative boundaries while revealing the importance of preserving nature.
