Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller Countdown written and directed by Justin Dec and starring Elizabeth Lail, Jordan Calloway, Talitha Bateman, Tichina Arnold, P.J. Byrne and Peter Facinelli. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (OzarkBoy ErasedThe GiftEnemyAmerican Gods). Also opening wide is the thriller Black and Blue directed by Deon Taylor and starring Naomie Harris, Tyrese Gibson, Frank Grillo, Mike Colter, Reid Scott, Beau Knapp and Nafessa Williams. Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Disturbia, Christopher Robin) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records/Sony Music have released a soundtrack album for the adventure drama The Great Alaskan Race. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Koutselinis (In Extremis, Decline of an Empire). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon Music. The Great Alaskan Race is directed by Brian Presley who also stars in the movie, alongside Treat Williams, Brad Leland, Henry Thomas, Bruce Davison, Will Wallace, Brea Bee, Emma Presley and James Russo. Decca Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Discovery docu-series Why We Hate. The album features the show’s original music composed by Laura Karpman (UndergroundParis Can WaitStepBlack Nativity). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Why We Hate is directed by Geeta Gandbhir & Sam Pollard, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Alex Gibney & Frank Marshall and explores one of humanity’s most primal and destructive emotions – hate. Back Lot Music has released the original song Stand Up from the biographical drama Harriet. The song is performed by lead actress Cynthia Erivo who also co-wrote it with Joshuah Brian Campbell. Will Wells & Gabe Fox-Peck have produced the track, which is now available to stream/download as a digital single on Amazon. Also check out the official lyric video after the jump. Harriet is directed by Kasi Lemmons and also stars Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr. and Joe Alwyn. WaterTower Music has released an EP featuring four songs from Todd Phillips’ Joker. The soundtrack includes the Live! with Murray Franklin theme, instrumental versions of the Dean Kay- & Kelly Gordon-penned That’s Life and the Charlie Chaplin-written Smile, all performed by Ellis Drane and his Jazz Orchestra, as well as Chaim Tenenbaum’s rendition of If You’re Happy and You Know It as featured in the movie. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the drama Semper Fi. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hanan Townshend (To the WonderKnight of CupsThe Better Angels). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 25 and will be available to stream/download here. Semper Fi is co-written and directed by Henry-Alex Rubin and stars Jai Courtney, Nat Wolff, Finn Wittrock, Beau Knapp, Arturo Castro and Leighton Meester.
