Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day) is composing the original music for the Amazon pilot The Dark Tower. The show is developed by Glen Mazzara based on Stephen King’s book of the same title and stars Sam Strike, Jasper Pääkkönen, Michael Rooker, Jerome Flynn and Joana Ribeiro. Rickey Minor to Return as Oscar Music Director

Academy Awards producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allain today announced today that Rickey Minor will return as the music director for this year’s 92nd Oscars. He previously served in the role on last year’s show and follows composers including Bill Conti, Marc Shaiman, William Ross and Harold Wheeler who have previously been selected as music directors. Minor has received eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Music Direction and won the award in 2017 for Taking the Stage: African American Music and Stories That Changed America. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the animated feature Marona’s Fantastic Tale (L’extraordinaire voyage de Marona). The album features the film’s original music composed by Pablo Pico (Adama, Saving Sally). The soundtrack is now available to stream and download on Amazon Music, where you can also check out audio samples. Marona’s Fantastic Tale is directed by Anca Damian and centers on a mixed-breed Labrador whose life leaves deep traces among the humans she encounters as she reflects on all the homes and different experiences she’s had after an accident. BMI’s roundtable entitled Music & Film: The Creative Process will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Kimball Arts Center (1401 Kearns Blvd, Park City).
