Joseph Shirley (Creed IIIThe Book of Boba FettThe Mandalorian,  Bad Trip, The Underdoggs, Fairfax,The Mysterious Benedict Society) and singer/songwriter Moses Sumney have teamed up to compose the music for the new thriller Is God Is. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Aleshea Harris and stars Kara Young, Mallori Johnson, Janelle Monáe, Mykelti Williamson, Erika Alexander, Josiah Cross, Vivica A. Fox and Sterling K. Brown. The movie follows two sisters who embark on an epic quest for revenge, confronting a charged family history that will push them to extraordinary lengths. Harris also wrote the screenplay based on her award-winning play of the same name. She is also producing the project with Tessa Thompson & Kishori Rajan (His & Hers), Riva Marker (Beasts of No Nation, Wildlife) and Janicza Bravo (Zola, Lemon). Is God Is will be released in theaters on May 15 by Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures.

Shirley’s other recent projects include Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist (co-scored with Andrew Orkin), which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting a distribution deal.
