Ben Decter has signed on to compose the music for the upcoming Hulu original series Shut Eye. The show is created by Les Bohem and stars Jeffrey Donovan, KaDee Strickland, Isabella Rosselini, David Zayas, Susan Misner and Emmanuelle Chriqui. The drama is set in the world of storefront psychics in Los Angeles and centers on a disgruntled former player in the world who begins to experience visions. Bohem is also executive producing the TriStar Television production with Mark Johnson (Rain Man, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Notebook) and Melissa Bernstein (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul).

Sean Callery to Score ABC’s ‘Designated Survivor’
Sean Callery has signed on to score the upcoming ABC drama Designated Survivor. The show is created by David Guggenheim (Safe House) and stars Kiefer Sutherland, Kal Penn, Maggie Q, Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto and Italia Ricci. The series follows a low-level U.S. Cabinet member who finds himself unexpectedly appointed President after a terrorist attack kills everyone above him in the Presidential line of succession. Guggenheim and Sutherland are also executive producing the Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios production with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, The Martian), Aditya Sood, Susan Bymel (Touch) and showrunner Amy B. Harris.
Ian Hultquist to Score DirecTV’s ‘Full Circle’ Season 3
Ian Hultquist revealed in a recent interview with Musing on Music that he is the new composer of the DirecTV original series Full Circle. He is scoring the third season of the show, which is written by Jorge Zamacona (The Last Ship, Oz) and stars Dougray Scott and Kim Raver. Season 3 centers on a sex scandal that threatens to destroy a Presidential candidate and stop his almost certain election. Nick Hamm (Rogue) directing and executive producing the Momentum TV production. Jeff Cardoni has previously scored the show’s first season written by Neil LaBute and Craig Marks scored the second season written by Keith Huff.
Soundtrack Album for HBO’s ‘Confirmation’ Announced
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the HBO original movie Confirmation. The album features the film’s original music composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Man on Fire). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 15, 2016 and physically on May 27. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Confirmation is directed by Rick Famuyiwa and stars Kerry Washington, Wendell Pierce, Greg Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Eric Stonestreet, Jennifer Hudson, Dylan Baker, Erika Christensen, Kimberly Elise, Grace Gummer, Bill Irwin, Zoe Lister-Jones, Treat Williams and Alison Wright. The drama details the 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearings and revisits the national debate over race relations and sexual harassment sparked during the hearings when law professor Anita Hill testified about her experiences with Thomas.
Soundtrack for HBO’s ‘Only the Dead See the End of the World’ to Be Released
Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the HBO documentary Only the Dead See the End of the War. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Yezerski (Mental, Drift, The Devil’s Candy, A Little Death). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 15, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Only the Dead See the War is directed by Bill Guttentag in collaboration with Michael Ware and examines the Iraq War and its moral consequences through the story of the rise and fall of jihadi terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the founder of Al Qaeda in Iraq and the progenitor of ISIS. The movie is told through hand-held video footage culled from hundreds of hours that journalist Michael Ware shot while reporting over the course of the war.

Premiering tonight is the Starz original series The Girlfriend Experience created by Amy Seimetz & Lodge Kerrigan, executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and starring Riley Keough, Paul Sparks, Mary Lynn Rajskub, James Gilbert and Kate Lyn Sheil. The film’s original music is composed by writer/director/composer Shane Carruth (Primer, Upstream Color). Lyle Workman to Score HBO’s ‘Crashing’
Lyle Workman is set to compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series Crashing. The show is executive produced by Peter Holmes & Judd Apatow and also stars Holmes as a comedian who, when his wife leaves him, has nowhere to stay but on the couches of New York’s finest comics. Holmes has written the pilot’s script and Apatow is directing the first episode. Dave Rath, Josh Church and Igor Srubshchik serve as producers and Oren Brimer is co-producing the comedy. Workman has previously scored numerous projects directed and produced by Apatow, including The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad and most recently the Netflix original series Love, which premiered in February and will return for a second season next year.
Alex Heffes to Score History’s ‘Roots’
Alex Heffes has been hired to compose the music for the upcoming History event mini-series Roots. The 8-parter stars Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke, Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean. The drama is based on Alex Haley’s novel of the same title and chronicles the history of an African slave sold to America and his descendants. Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Salt), Thomas Carter (Coach Carter), Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) and Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) are directing the episodes.
‘Home Fires’ Soundtrack Announced
Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the British TV series Home Fires. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Samuel Sim (Awake, Dunkirk, The Reckoning, including the drama’s theme, which the composer arranged into a new four minute version, Siren (Theme from “Home Fires”). The soundtrack will be released on May 6, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Home Fires stars Samantha Bond, Francesca Annis, Ed Stoppard, Ruth Gemmell, Claire Rushbrook, Frances Grey, Clare Calbraith and Rachel Hurd-Wood. The show based on the book Jambusters by Julie Summers is set during World War II and follows a group of inspirational women in a rural Cheshire community.
Showtime’s ‘Dice’ to Feature Theme by Steve Marion & Score by Elegant Too
The composer duo of Elegant Too (aka Chris Maxwell and Phil Hernandez) is scoring the new Showtime original series Dice. Steve Marion aka Delicate Steve has written the main titles theme for the comedy created by Scot Armstrong (Old School, Road Trip, Starksy & Hutch) and starring Andrew Dice Clay in the title role, as well as Kevin Corrigan and Natasha Leggero. Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody and Michael Rapaport appear as guest stars. The show is based on the comedian’s real life as he moves his family to Las Vegas in hopes of making a comeback. Armstrong and Clay are also executive producing the Fox 21 Television Studios production with Sean & Bryan Furst (Daybreakers, The Cooler), Bruce Rubenstein, Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka (The Sitter).
