HBO announced today that Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher. The movie directed by Thom Zimny focuses on Elvis Presley the musical artist, taking the audience on a comprehensive creative journey from his childhood through the final 1976 Jungle Room recording sessions. The 3-hour film features more than 20 new, primary source interviews with session players, producers, engineers, directors and other artists who knew him or who were profoundly influenced by him.

NBC’s ‘Rise’ to Feature Score by Will Bates
Will Bates is the composer of the upcoming NBC drama Rise. The show is created by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli”i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joseph Tippett and Shirley Rumierk. The series follows a dedicated teacher and family man who sheds his own self-doubt and takes over the school’s lackluster theater department. Tom Kitt serves as the project’s music director and Scott Riesett as the show’s music producer.
New Episodes of ‘Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’ to Feature Music by Mark Isham, BT & Bear McCreary
Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, A River Runs Through It) and BT (The Fast and the Furious, Monster) have recently scored two episodes of the new Amazon original series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. The composers collaborated on the music for the episodes Autofac starring Juno Temple, Janelle Monae & David Lyons, and Isham also scored the episode Safe and Sound. In addition, Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, Happy Death Day, The Walking Dead) has scored three episodes including the Dee Rees-helmed Kill All Others, as well as Real Life and Impossible Planet, both of which already aired in the UK on Channel 4.
Soundtrack Album for Nat Geo’s ‘The Long Road Home’ Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the Nat Geo original mini-series The Long Road Home. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed and conducted by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Rome, Pollock, Appaloosa, Carnivale). The soundtrack is now available to order as a limited edition 2-CD set on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples. A digital version is also expected to be released. The Long Road Home is developed by Mikko Alanne and stars Michael Kelly, Jason Ritter, Kate Bosworth, Sarah Wayne Callies, Jeremy Sisto and Noel Fisher, Jon Beavers, E.J. Bonilla, Jorge Diaz, Darius Homayoun and Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Clark Scoring Channel 4’s & Hulu’s ‘Kiri’
Clark (aka Chris Clark) has composed the music for the new Channel 4 mini-series Kiri. The show is created by Jack Thorne (National Treasure, A Long Way Down, Glue) and stars Sarah Lancashire, Lia Williams, Steven Mackintosh, Lucian Msamati and Felicia Mukasa. The 4-part drama tells the story of the abduction and death of a young black girl, named Kiri, who is soon-to-be-adopted by her white foster family. Euros Lyn (Doctor Who, Torchwood) directed all episodes.

Alex Heffes Scoring ITV’s ‘Next of Kin’
Alex Heffes has composed the original score for the first couple of episodes of the new ITV drama Next of Kin. The show is created by Paul Rutman (Indian Summers, Vera) & Natasha Narayan and stars Archie Panjabi and Jack Davenport. The 6-part series follows a Mona, a whip-smart GP who lives in London with a political lobbyist husband. Their family life is shattered when Mona’s brother is brutally murdered while working for a medical charity abroad. Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl) has directed the first three episodes.
Soundtrack Album for Fox’s ‘The Exorcist’ TV Series Released
Milan Records has released the first soundtrack album for the Fox drama The Exorcist. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, John Wick, Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen). Also included is the series’ main titles theme written by Daniel Hart (Pete’s Dragon, A Ghost Story). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Exorcist is developed by Jeremy Slater and stars Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Kurt Egyiawa and John Cho. The show follows two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.
Fox’s ‘9-1-1’ to Feature Music by Mac Quayle & Todd Haberman
Mac Quayle and Todd Haberman are scoring the new Fox drama 9-1-1. The show is created by Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk (Glee, Nip/Tuck, American Crime Story) and stars Peter Krause, Connie Britton, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Rockmond Dunbar. The series is based on the real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers – cops, paramedics, firefighters – who must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives.
‘Deep Space Nine’ Soundtrack Collection Vol. 2 Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The Volume 2 albums features 4 CDs including original music from the classic TV show by composers Dennis McCarthy (Star Trek: Generations), Jay Chattaway (Star Trek: The Next Generation), David Bell, Gregory Smith & Paul Baillargeon (Star Trek: Enterprise).
