Nainita Desai (For Sama, American Murder: The Family Next Door, Enslaved, Fierce Queens, Enemy Within, Telling Lies) has recently scored the upcoming Netflix docu-series Sophie: A Murder in West Cork. The 3-parter is directed by John Dower (My Scientology Movie, The Mystery of D.B. Cooper) and centers on the shocking murder of French film and TV producer Sophie Toscan Du Plantier who was killed while at her isolated holiday cottage in West Cork, Ireland, in 1996 and that set off an increasingly convoluted quest for justice that spans decades and cuts across national borders. Simon Chinn (Searching for Sugar Man, Man on Wire), Jonathan Chinn (Whitney, Tina, Untouchable) and Suzanne Lavery are producing the Lighbox production.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (May 23, 2021)
Premiering tonight is the fourth season of the HBO original series In Treatment developed by Jennifer Schuur & Joshua Allen and starring Uzo Aduba, Anthony Ramos, Liza Colón-Zayas, Quintessa Swindell, John Benjamin Hickey and Joel Kinnaman. Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) (Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Mainstream, Palo Alto) is composing the original music for the new season. Premiering on Thursday, May 27, is the Netflix anime series Eden created by Justin Leach and starring Ruby Rose Turner, David Tennant, Rosario Dawson, Neil Patrick Harris, JP Karliak, Cassandra Lee Morris and Julie Nathanson. Kevin Penkin (Tower of God, Made in Abyss, The Rising of the Shield Hero) is composing the show’s original music. ‘The Fungies!’ Main Title Song Released
Cartoon Network and WaterTower Music have released an extended version of the main title song from the HBO Max animated series The Fungies! The track written by Simon Panrucker (Clarence) and series creator/executive producer Stephen Neary is now available to stream and download on all major digital music outlets, including Amazon. Universal-Island Records has released a soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ docu-series 1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything. The album features a selection of songs from the show by artists including John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, Cat Stevens, The Who, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Leon Russell, Diana Ross, The Beach Boys & others. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. A vinyl edition is set to be released later this year. 1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything is executive produced by Asif Kapadia & James Gay-Rees and explore the musicians and soundtracks that shaped the culture and politics of 1971. The 8-parter shows how the musical icons of the time were influenced by the changing tides of history and how they used their music to inspire hope, change and the culture around them.
Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Eden’ to Be Released
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix anime series Eden. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Kevin Penkin (Tower of God, Made in Abyss, The Rising of the Shield Hero). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, May 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Penrose Steps, A.I. Bloom) is already being released today and can be checked out after the jump. Eden is created by Justin Leach and features the voices of Ruby Rose Turner, David Tennant, Rosario Dawson, JP Karliak, Neil Patrick Harris, Cassandra Lee Morris and Julie Nathanson. The Qubic Pictures and CGCG Studio production directed by Yasuhiro Irie revolves around a human girl secretly raised by robots who starts to uncover the dark secrets behind her lush, utopian world where humanity has all but vanished.
‘We Are Lady Parts’ Soundtrack EP Released
Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack EP for the Channel 4 & Peacock original series We Are Lady Parts. The EP features six songs from the show performed by the titular band Lady Parts, including four original tracks written by show creator Nida Manzoor, Shez Manzoor, Sanya Manzoor and Benjamin Fregin, as well the cover versions of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 and Queens’ We Are the Champions. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other other major digital music stores). Also listen to all six songs after the jump. We Are Lady Parts is created, written and directed by Nida Manzoor and stars Anjana Vasan, Sarah Kameela Impey, Juliette Motamed, Faith Omole, Lucie Shorthouse, Zaqi Ismail and Aiysha Hart. The comedy follows a Muslim female punk band who are on a mission to find a lead guitarist and maybe, just maybe, get a proper gig.

Hollywood Records & Marvel Music will release a soundtrack album for the Hulu original series Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Daniel Rojas (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts). Also included is Aimee Mann’s cover of Never Let You Go (recorded for the series), as well as songs performed by Patton Oswalt (who stars as the title character) and Bill Hader. The soundtrack will be released this Friday, May 21 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is created by Oswalt & Jordan Blum and also features the voices of Melissa Fumero, Aimee Garcia, Ben Schwartz, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Beck Bennett, Sam Richardson and Jon Daly, as well as guests stars such as Jon Hamm, Whoopi Goldberg and Nathan Fillion. The adult animated series follows an egomaniacal super villain as he struggles to maintain control of his evil organization after it is bought by a multinational tech company, all while juggling the needs of his demanding family.

Dubois Records will release a soundtrack album for the Amazon original series Solos. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Martin Phipps (The Crown, Woman in Gold, The Aftermath, War & Peace, The Honourable Woman, Peaky Blinders). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 21 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music stores. Solos is created by David Weil and stars Helen Mirren, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Mackie, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Constance Wu and Dan Stevens. The sci-fi drama explores the depths of human connection through the lens of eight remote characters.
Apple TV+’s ‘The Me You Can’t See’ to Feature Music by Antonio Pinto
Antonio Pinto (City of God, The Mosquito Squad, McFarland, USA, Lord of War, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) has composed the original score for the new Apple TV+ docu-series The Me You Can’t See. The show is co-created by Oprah Winfrey & Prince Harry who guide honest discussions about mental health and emotional well-being while opening up about their mental health journeys and struggles. The 5-parter directed by Dawn Porter (The Way I See It, John Lewis: Good Trouble) & Asif Kapadia (The Return, The Warrior) features guests including Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, Phoenix Suns’ Langston Galloway, San Antonio Spurs’ DeMar DeRozan, and others, alongside a wide range of people from across the globe living with the challenges of mental health issues and addressing their emotional well-being.
