Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL) announced on Twitter that he is set to compose the music for the upcoming comic book adaptation Deadpool. The film is directed by Tim Miller and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein and Brianna Hildebrand. The movie is based on the Marvel Comics character from the X-Men universe and centers on Wade Wilson, a talkative assassin who winds up with superpowers while seeking a cure for his cancer. Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Zombieland, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) have written the screenplay.

Jonathan Levine’s ‘The Night Before’ to Feature Music by Marco Beltrami & Miles Hankins
Marco Beltrami and Miles Hankins have composed the original score for the upcoming holiday comedy The Night Before. The film is directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Wackness) and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, Lizzy Caplan, Julian Bell, Mindy Kaling and Michael Shannon. The movie centers on three longtime friends deciding to party one last time on Christmas Eve to mark the conclusion of their 14-year-old holiday tradition. Levine has also co-written the screenplay with Kyle Hunter, Ariel Schaffir and Evan Goldberg (Superbad, This Is the End).
Ryuichi Sakamoto Scoring Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s ‘The Revenant’
Ryuichi Sakamoto is scoring the upcoming thriller The Revenant. The film is directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman, Amores Perros, Babel, 21 Grams) and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter. The movie is based on the novel by Michael Punke and follows legendary explorer Hugh Glass who is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. Mark L. Smith (Vacancy, The Hole) has co-written the screenplay with Inarritu.
Abel Korzeniowski to Score Lee Tamahori’s ‘Emperor’
Abel Korzeniowski has signed on to score the upcoming historical action adventure Emperor. The film is directed by Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day, The Edge, Next, Along Came a Spider) and stars Adrien Brody, Sophie Cookson, Paz Vega, Eddie Marsan, Gotz Otto, Bill Skarsgard, Thomas Kretschmann, Oliver Platt and Rutger Hauer. The movie centers on the brilliant strategist Emperor Charles V, trying to hold together a fragmented Empire, in a 16th century world of wealth, debauchery, violent retaliations, sex, manipulation and treason.
Anne Dudley Scoring ‘Away’
Anne Dudley is composing the music for the upcoming British drama Away. The film is directed by David Blair (Best Laid Plans) and stars Timothy Spall and Juno Temple. The movie is set in the North English seaside town of Blackpool and follows a widower who saves an orphan on the run from a drug dealer, sparking an unlikely friendship. Roger Hadfield has written the screenplay. Terry Stone (Saving Santa) is producing the project for Gateway Films, alongside Radio Film’s Richard Turner and Mike Knowles.

Federico Jusid has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Hunter’s Prayer. The film is directed by Jonathan Mostow (U-571, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Breakdown) and stars Sam Worthington, Odeya Rush, Martin Compston, Amy Landecker and Verónica Echegui. The movie follows an assassin hired to kill a young girl. When he can’t bring himself to carry out the task, both are marked for death and hunted across Europe.
Theodore Shapiro to Score ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot
Theodore Shapiro is set to compose the music for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. The film is directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) and stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh, Michael K. Williams and Chris Hemsworth. Stars of the original Ghostbusters, Bill Murray,Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson will also be appearing in the new version. Feig has also written the screenplay with Katie Dippold (The Heat). Amy Pascal is producing the supernatural comedy with Ivan Reitman (Stripes, Kindergarten Cop, Dave) who helmed the original film.
John Debney to Score Mel Gibson’s ‘Hacksaw Ridge’
John Debney confirmed in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he is set to reteam with Mel Gibson on the upcoming historical drama Hacksaw Ridge. The film starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey and Vince Vaughn is based on the life of Desmond T. Doss, a medic and the first conscientious objector who won the Congressional Medal of Honor after saving dozens of soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa. Randall Wallace (We Were Soldiers, Braveheart) and Robert Schenkkan (The Quiet American) have written the screenplay.
Toby Chu to Score ‘The Wolves at the Door’
Toby Chu has signed on to score the upcoming period thriller The Wolves at the Door. The film is directed by John Leonetti (Annabelle, The Butterfly Effect 2) and stars Katie Cassidy, Miles Fisher, Elizabeth Henstridge and Adam Campbell. The movie is inspired by the horrifying Manson Family murders that shocked Los Angeles in 1969 and follows a group of friends who endure a terrifying home invasion. Gary Dauberman (Annabelle, Within) has written the screenplay. Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Buried, New in Town, Meet the Spartans) is producing the New Line Cinema production.
Johann Johannsson to Score Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Story of Your Life’
Johann Johannsson is reteaming with Denis Villeneuve on the upcoming sci-fi drama Story of Your Life. The film is based on a short story by Ted Chiang and stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg. The movie takes place after alien crafts land around the world and follows an expert linguist who is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. Eric Heisserer (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing) has written the screenplay.
