Ewan McGregor revealed in a recent interview with Collider that Alexandre Desplat will score the actor’s feature directorial debut American Pastoral. The film also stars McGregor, alongside Uzo Aduba, David Strathairn, Jennifer Connelly, Rupert Evans and Dakota Fanning. The movie is based on Philip Roth’s novel of the same title and follows a legendary high school athlete whose seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by committing a deadly act of terrorism during the Vietnam War. Night Club Scoring ‘Nerdland’
Mark Brooks and Emily Kavanaugh of the Los Angeles synth pop band Night Club are scoring the animated comedy Nerdland. The film is directed by Chris Prynoski and features the voices of Paul Rudd, Patton Oswalt, Hannibal Buress, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Mike Judge and Reid Scott. The movie follows an aspiring actor and a would-be screenwriter Elliot who set out on an all-day journey in Los Angeles to make it big by the end of the night. Andrew Kevin Walker (Seven, Sleepy Hollow, 8MM) has written the screenplay. Gavin Polone (Panic Room, Gilmore Girls, Zombieland) is producing the project, which marks the first feature from animation house Titmouse (Metalocalypse, Superjail!).
Abel Korzeniowski to Score Tom Ford’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’
Abel Korzeniowski is reteaming with director Tom Ford on the upcoming dramatic thriller Nocturnal Animals. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Isla Fisher, Kim Basinger, Michael Shannon, Ellie Bamber and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The movie is based on the 1993 novel Tony And Susan by Austin Wright and follows a woman who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. Ford has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Robert Salerno (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Arbitrage).
Joseph Trapanese to Score ‘Jadotville’ and ‘Shimmer Lake’
Joseph Trapanese has signed on to score the upcoming war thriller Jadotville. The film is directed by Richie Smyth and stars Jamie Dornan, Guillaume Canet, Jason O’Mara and Mark Strong. The movie tells the true story of Irish Commandant Pat Quinlan who led a stand off with troops against French and Belgian Mercenaries in the Congo during in the early 1960s. Kevin Brodbin (Constantine, Mindhunters) has written the screenplay based on a novel by Declan Power. Alan Moloney (The Escapist, Albert Nobbs, Byzantium) is producing the project for Parallel Films.
Atli Orvarsson to Score ‘Ploey – You Never Fly Alone’
Atli Orvarsson is set to compose the music for the upcoming animated feature Ploey – You Never Fly Alone. The film directed by Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson (Brim) and co-directed by Gunnar Karlsson tells the story of a chick whose family migrates to warmer climates before he has learned to fly. Fridrik Erlingsson (Legends of Valhalla) has written the screenplay. Hilmar Sigurdsson and Haukur Sigurjónsson are producing the project for the Icelandic production company GunHil and Ives Agemans is producing for the Belgian animation studio Cyborn.

Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld are composing the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Lavender. The film is directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly (The Last Exorcism Part II) and stars Abbie Cornish, Diego Klattenhoff, Dermot Mulroney, Justin Long, Lola Flanery and Sarah Abbot. The movie follows a photographer struggling with severe memory loss who begins to think that she may be responsible for the deaths of family members she never knew she had. Gass-Donnelly has written the screenplay with Colin Frizzell and is also producing the project with Dave Valleau (Reasonable Doubt, The Entitled).
Henry Jackman to Score ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’
Henry Jackman has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. The film is directed by Edward Zwick (Glory, The Last Samurai, Legends of the Fall) and stars Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, Madalyn Horcher, Danika Yarosh, Patrick Heusinger, Holt McCallany and Robert Knepper. The movie is based on Lee Child’s book Never Go Back and follows the title character as he returns to the headquarters of his old unit, only to find out he’s now accused of a 16-year-old homicide. Zwick has also written the screenplay with Marshall Herskovitz based on an original script by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer). Cruise is producing the Skydance Media production with Don Granger (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation).
Michael Kamm Scoring ‘Sleepless Night’
Michael Kamm has recently recorded his score for the upcoming thriller Sleepless Night. The film is directed by Baran bo Odar and stars Jamie Foxx, Michelle Monaghan, T.I., Dermot Mulroney, Scoot McNairy, Gabrielle Union and David Harbour. The movie is based on the 2011 French film of the same title and follows an undercover police officer who scours a nightclub in search of his kidnapped son. Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton, World Trade Center) has written the screenplay. Roy Lee (The Lego Movie, The Strangers, The Boy) and Adam Stone are producing the project for Vertigo Entertainment.

Danny DeVito’s ‘Curmudgeons’ to Feature Music by Jon Brion
Jon Brion is composing the music for the short film Curmudgeons. The movie is directed by Danny DeVito and stars himself, alongside David Margulies, Lucy DeVito, Sarah Nina Hayon and Kett Turton. The comedy follows a pair of senior citizens who have a relationship that shocks both their families. Joshua Conkel has written the screenplay. Danny & Lucy DeVito are also producing the project with Jake DeVito.
