Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have been tapped to score the upcoming comedy The House. The film is directed by Andrew J. Cohen and stars Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Ryan Simpkins, Jason Mantzoukas, Nick Kroll, Cedric Yarbrough and Allison Tolman. The movie follows a husband who joins with his neighbors to start an illegal casino in his basement after he and his wife blow their daughter’s college fund. Cohen has also co-written the screenplay for the New Line Cinema production with Brendan O’Brien. Ferrell is also producing the project through his Gary Sanchez production company with Adam McKay (The Big Short, The Other Guys, Talladega Nights).

Patrick Doyle to Score Amma Asante’s ‘A United Kingdom’
Director Amma Asante announced on Twitter that Patrick Doyle is scoring the upcoming period drama A United Kingdom and will be recording his music with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The movie directed by Asante (Belle) stars David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Jack Davenport, Terry Pheto, Tom Felton, Arnold Oceng, Jack Lowden and Laura Carmichael. The movie is based on the book Colour Bar by Susan Williams and tells the true love story between Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana, who fell in love with London office worker Ruth Williams in 1947. Guy Hibbert (Five Minutes of Heaven) has written the screenplay.
Tyler Bates & Joel J. Richard to Return for ‘John Wick: Chapter Two’
Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard are set to return to score the upcoming action thriller John Wick: Chapter Two. The film is helmed by Chad Stahelski who previously co-directed the original movie and stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Aurelio, John Leguizamo, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Tom Sadowski, Bridget Moynahan, Ruby Rose, Riccardo Scamarcio, Peter Stormare and Common. The sequel follows the title character as he is forced back out of retirement by a former associate and travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Derek Kolstad has written the screenplay and Basil Iwanyk (The Town, Sicario, Clash of the Titans) returns as the producer.
Ilan Eshkeri Scoring ‘Swallows and Amazons’
Ilan Eshkeri is composing the music for the upcoming family adventure Swallows and Amazons. The film is directed by Philippa Lowthorpe (Call the Midwife) and stars Rafe Spall, Kelly Macdonald, Gwendoline Christie, Jessica Hynes, Andrew Scott, Harry Enfield, Dane Hughes, Orla Hill, Teddie-Rose Malleson-Allen, Bobby McCulloch, Seren Hawkes and Hannah Jayne Thorp. The movie is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Arthur Ransome and follows four children dreaming of an escape from the tedium of a summer holiday with their mother as they travel to a a remote island in the middle of a vast lake. Andrea Gibb (Dear Frankie) has written the screenplay.
Will Bates to Score ‘Imperium’
Will Bates is scoring the upcoming thriller Imperium. The film is written and directed by Daniel Ragussis and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Toni Collette and Tracy Letts. The movie follows an FBI special agent specializing in domestic terrorism and covert operations who goes undercover and joins a white supremacist group in order to expose a sizable terrorist plot to create a bomb. Ty Walker, Dennis Lee (Fireflies in the Garden) and Simon Taufique (composer of Jesus Henry Christ) are producing the Atomic Features and Tycor International Film Company production.
David Wingo Scoring Jeff Nichols’ ‘Loving’
David Wingo is reteaming with director Jeff Nichols on the upcoming drama Loving. The film is written and directed by Nichols and stars Joel Edgerton, Ruth Negga, Nick Kroll, Marton Csokas and Michael Shannon. The movie is inspired by Nancy Buirski’s documentary The Loving Story and tells the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple, who were sentenced to prison in Virginia in 1958 for getting married. Ged Doherty & Colin Firth (Eye In The Sky), Sarah Green (Frida, The Tree of Life), Buirski and Marc Turtletaub & Peter Saraf (Little Miss Sunshine, Safety Not Guaranteed) are producing the project.
Charlie Clouser Scoring Marcus Dunstan’s ‘The Neighbor’
Charlie Clouser has recently composed the music for the upcoming horror thriller The Neighbor. The film is directed by Marcus Dunstan (The Collector, screenwriter of Sav VI, V, VI and The Final Chapter) and stars Josh Stewart, Melissa Bolona, Alex Essoe, Bill Engvall, Ronnie Blevins, Jaqueline Fleming and Luke Edwards. The movie follows a man who discovers the dark truth about his secretive neighbor and what, or who, he may be keeping in the cellar. Dunstan has also written the screenplay with his regular writing partner Patrick Melton. Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti (Pride, The Collector) are producing the project for Fortress Features.
James Newton Howard to Score ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’
James Newton Howard has been tapped to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film is directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo and Alison Sudol. The movie is based on the book of the same title by J.K. Rowling and follows the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards 70 years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. Rowling has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with David Heyman (Harry Potter series, Gravity), Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram (Sherlock Holmes).
Hans Zimmer Scoring Sean Penn’s ‘The Last Face’
Hans Zimmer revealed in a recent interview with Gigwise that he is scoring the upcoming drama The Last Face. The film is directed by Sean Penn and stars Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Jean Reno and Jared Harris. The movie follows the director of an international aid organization working in Liberia who embarks on a love affair with a stubborn and impulsive relief-aid doctor. Erin Dignam (The Yellow Hankerchief) has written the screenplay. Bill Pohlad (12 Years a Slave, Into the Wild, Wild) is producing the project with Matt Palmieri (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Bill Gerber (Gran Torino).
King Crimson’s Adrian Belew to Score Pixar’s ‘Piper’
Adrian Belew is composing the music for the upcoming Pixar short Piper. The film is directed by Alan Barillaro and follows a beach-dwelling bird who encounters a small hermit crab who teaches her the way of the waves. The project marks Barillaro’s first film as a director. He previously served as a the supervising animator on Pixar’s Wall-E and Brave. Belew is best known as the guitarist and vocalist of the progressive rock band King Crimson.
