Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix original movie War Machine. The film is directed by David Michod (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) and stars Brad Pitt, Topher Grace, Emory Cohen, Tilda Swinton, Anthony Michael Hall, Will Poulter, Jonathan Ing and Ben Kingsley. The satire is based on the book The Operators by Michael Hastings and revolves around a four-star U.S. military general who is sent to Afghanistan to bring the war to an end, but finds he himself is the one under attack.

Arturo Sandoval Scoring Fred Wolf’s ‘Drunk Parents’
Arturo Sandoval is composing the music for the upcoming comedy Drunk Parents. The film is directed by Fred Wolf (The House Bunny, Strange Wilderness) and stars Alec Baldwin, Salma Hayek, Jim Gaffigan, Joe Manganiello, Bridget Moynahan and Ben Platt. The movie follows two drunk parents who attempt to hide their ever increasing financial difficulties from their daughter and social circle through elaborate neighborhood schemes. Wolf also co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Gaulke (Ice Age: The Meltdown, Say It Isn’t So). Robert Ogden Barnum (Margin Call, Miles Ahead) and Aaron L. Gilbert (The Birth of a Nation, A Single Shot) are producing the project.
Michael J. McEvoy Scoring Richard Loncraine’s ‘Finding Your Feet’
Michael J. McEvoy is currently recording his score for the upcoming British romantic comedy Finding Your Feet. The film is directed by Richard Loncraine (Firewall, Wimbledon, Richard III) and stars Joanna Lumley, Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall, Celia Imrie and David Hayman. The movie centers on a woman who discovers her husband has been having an affair with her best friend and finds her aspirational world turned upside down as she approaches the ‘third age’ of her life. Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft wrote the screenplay. They are also producing the project with Andrew Berg and John Sachs are producing the project.
Junkie XL to Score ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’
UPDATE: Director Michael Dougherty mentioned on Twitter that Junkie XL is not scoring the film and GQ Magazine’s article is incorrect.
According to a recent article in GQ, Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) will be scoring the upcoming monster movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat) and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Aisha Hinds. No plot details have been announced yet. Dougherty is writing the screenplay with Zach Shields (Krampus). Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni are producing the Legendary Entertainment production with Mary Parent (The Revenant, Pacific Rim) and Brian Rogers. Holkenborg has previously scored Legendary’s 300: Rise of the Empire and last year’s Spectral.
Blake Neely to Score Greg Berlanti’s ‘Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda’
Blake Neely revealed in a recent interview in Variety that he is set to reunite with Greg Berlanti on the upcoming feature coming-of-age comedy drama Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. The film is directed by Berlanti and stars Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner, Katherine Langford, Alexandra Shipp, Logan Miller, Tony Hale, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Miles Heizer and Talitha Bateman. The movie is based on Becky Albertalli’s 2015 book of the same title and centers on a gay teenager, who, after an email written by him falls into the wrong hands, is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before being pushed out. Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger wrote the screenplay.
Carlo Virzi Scoring Paolo Virzi’s ‘The Leisure Seeker’
Carlo Virzi is reteaming with his brother Paolo Virzi on the upcoming drama The Leisure Seeker. The film marks the English language debut of the filmmaker whose previous movies include 2013’s Human Capital, 2010’s The First Beautiful Thing and last year’s Like Crazy and and stars Helen Mirren, Donald Sutherland, Kirsty Mitchell, Christian McKay and Robert Pralgo. The movie is inspired by the novel of the same name by Michael Zadoorian and follows a runaway couple going on a cross-country journey in their vintage camper as they flee the suffocating care of their doctors and grown children. Virzi also co-wrote the screenplay with Francesca Archibugi, Francesco Piccolo and Stephen Amidon.
Brian McOmber Scoring Trey Edward Shults’ ‘It Comes at Night’
Brian McOmber is reuniting with director Trey Edward Shults on the upcoming horror thriller It Comes at Night. The film is written and directed by Shults and stars Joel Edgerton, Riley Keough, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo and Kelvin Harrion Jr. The movie follows a man protecting his wife and son from a mysterious presence terrorizing them right outside their doorstep. David Kaplan (It Follows) is producing the project. McOmber has previously scored Shult’ feature directorial debut Krisha.
Laurent Eyquem to Score Mark Pellington’s ‘Nostalgia’
Laurent Eyquem has signed on to score the upcoming drama Nostalgia. The film is directed by Mark Pellington (The Mothman Prophecies, Arlington Road, The Last Word) and stars Jon Hamm, Ellen Burstyn, Catherine Keener, Bruce Dern, Nick Offerman, Amber Tamblyn, John Ortiz and James LeGros. The movie follows the lives of a group of people connected through loss and analyzes the way people find love and solace in memories and objects they share with one another. Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip, Queen of Earth) wrote the screenplay.
Laurent Perez Del Mar to Score ‘I Kill Giants’
Laurent Perez Del Mar is set to compose the music for the upcoming dramatic thriller I Kill Giants. The movie is directed by Anders Walter and stars Zoe Saldana, Madison Wolfe, Imogen Poots, Jennifer Ehle and Noel Clarke. The film is based on the 2008 graphic novel of the same title by Joe Kelly and tells the story of a young misfit girl named Barbara battling both real and imaginary monsters in her life. Kelly also wrote the screenplay. Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire) is producing the project through his 1492 Pictures/Ocean Blue Entertainment company, alongside with Kim Magnusson, Kyle Franke and Adrian Politowski.
Lesley Barber Scoring Rebecca Addelman’s ‘Paper Year’
Lesley Barber is composing the music for the upcoming romantic drama Paper Year. The movie marks the directorial debut of writer Rebecca Addelman (New Girl, Love) and stars Eve Hewson, Avan Jogia, Andie MacDowell and Hamish Linklater. The movie centers on a newly married couple who encounter obstacles that reveal cracks in their relationship forcing them to question whether they made a fully formed decision. Addelman also wrote the screenplay. Christina Piovesan (Regression, Amreeka, The Whistleblower) is producing the project for First Generation Films, alongside Jennifer Shin.
