Alan Silvestri is set to reteam with Robert Zemeckis on the upcoming fantasy drama The Women of Marwen. The film starring Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Janelle Monae, Eiza Gonzalez, Diane Kruger, Falk Hentschel and Gwendoline Christie is based on Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary Marwencol about a man who builds a miniature WWII-era village to help him get over a terrible life event. Zemeckis has also co-written the screenplay with Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas) and is producing the ImageMovers production with Jack Rapke & Steve Starkey (Cast Away, What Lies Beneath) and Cherylanne Martin.

Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring Netflix’s ‘November 13’ & ‘O.G.’
Nathaniel Mechaly is scoring the upcoming Netflix docu-series November 13. The 3-parter is directed by Jules & Gédéon Naudet (9/11) and explores the human stories behind the terrorist attacks that took place in Paris on November 13th, 2015. The documentary will share testimonies of the people brought together by tragedy, from the survivors, the fire department, the Police and the leaders of the French government including French President at the time of the events, François Hollande. The Naudet brothers are also executive producing the project with Propagate’s Ben Silverman & Howard T. Owens.
Cliff Martinez Scoring Drew Pearce’s ‘Hotel Artemis’
Cliff Martinez (Drive, Traffic, Solaris, Contagion) has recently composed the music for the upcoming thriller Hotel Artemis. The film is written and directed by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and stars Jodie Foster, Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day and Dave Bautista. The movie revolves around a nurse who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals in a near-future Los Angeles that’s torn by riots.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Scoring Miguel Arteta’s ‘Duck Butter’
Composer and synth experimentalist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith is making her major feature film scoring debut on the upcoming indie comedy Duck Butter. The film is directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Cedar Rapids, Beatriz at Dinner) and stars Alia Shawkat, Laia Costa, Mae Whitman, Hong Chau and Kate Berlant. The movie centers on aa one-night stand between two women that turns into a sexual experiment to have sex every hour for 24 hours. Arteta and Shawkat have also co-written the screenplay. Mel Eslyn (The One I Love, Blue Jay) and Natalie Qasabian (Searching) are producing the project.
Trevor Morris Scoring ‘Hunter Killer’
Trevor Morris is currently recording his score for the upcoming action thriller Hunter Killer.The film is directed by Donovan Marsh (Avenged) and stars Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Common, Gabriel Chavarria and Michael Nyqvist. The movie centers on an untested American captain who teams with Navy Seals for a mission to rescue the Russian president. Peter Craig (The Town) and Jamie Moss (Ghost in the Shell) have written the screenplay based on the novel Firing Point by George Wallace and Don Keith. Neal Moritz (Fast & Furious series, 21/22 Jump Street) and Toby Jaffee (Total Recall, Blue Streak) are producing the Millennium Films production with Butler, Alan Siegel & Mark Gill (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Law Abiding Citizen).
Nicholas Britell to Score Barry Jenkins’ ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’
Nicholas Britell is reuniting with director Barry Jenkins on the upcoming drama If Beale Street Could Talk. The movie is written and directed by Jenkins and stars KiKi Layne, Stephan James, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Brian Tyree Henry, Dave Franco, Ed Skrein, Teyonah Parris, Finn Wittrock, Aunjanue Ellis and Regina King. The movie is based on the 1974 James Baldwin novel of the same nam and revolves around a newly engaged Harlem woman who races against the clock to prove her lover’s innocence while carrying their first child to term. Jenkins is also producing the project with Plan B Entertainment’s Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner & Dede Gardner (12 Years a Slave, Selma).

Ramin Kousha is scoring the upcoming comedy 1st Born. The film is directed by Ali Atshani and stars Armin Amiri, Taylor Cole, Val Kilmer, William Baldwin, Robert Knepper, Jay Abdo, Denise Richards, Dominique Swain, Tom Berenger and Greg Grunberg. The movie follows a young mixed-nationality couple, Iranian born Ben and American Kate, who are experiencing complications in their first pregnancy, which forces their family to put aside their differences and come together for the sake of the infant.
Germaine Franco to Score Jeff Tomsic’s ‘Tag’
Germaine Franco has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Tag. The film is directed by Jeff Tomsic and stars Ed Helms, Jeremy Renner, Hannibal Buress, Annabelle Wallis, Isla Fisher, Jake Johnson, Jon Hamm, Rashida Jones and Leslie Bibb. The movie is based on a true story featured in the Wall Street Journal about a group of friends who have been playing a no-holds-barred version of the children’s game Tag for the last 30 years. Mark Steilen and Rob McKittrick have written the screenplay. Steilen is also producing the New Line Cinema production with Todd Garner (Knight and Day, Paul Blart: Mall Cop).
Michel Legrand Scoring Orson Welles’ ‘The Other Side of the Wind’
Variety is reporting that Michel Legrand is currently scoring Orson Welles’ final film The Other Side of the Wind. The satire starring John Huston, Bob Random, Peter Bogdanovich, Susan Strasberg & Oja Kodar was shot between 1970 and 1976 and never finished and released until restoration work began a few years ago. The movie follows the final days of a legendary director striving for a comeback. Frank Marshall (Raiders of Lost Ark, Jurassic World, The Sixth Sense) and Filip Jan Rymsza are producing the project.
Terence Blanchard Reteaming with Spike Lee on ‘Black Klansman’
Terence Blanchard has begun recording his score for the upcoming crime drama Black Klansman. The film is directed by Spike Lee and stars John David Washington, Topher Grace, Adam Driver, Jasper Paakkonen, Laura Harrier and Corey Hawkins. The movie is based on Ron Stallworth’s autobiography and tells the story of a police detective who dared to challenge the Ku Klux Klan and thwart its attempts to take over Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lee is also producing the Monkeypaw, QC Entertainment and Blumhouse production with Sean McKittrick (Donnie Darko), Raymond Mansfield, Shaun Redick, Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) and Jordan Peele (Get Out).
