Brett Detar Scoring William Brent Bell’s ‘Orphan: First Kill’
Composer Brett Detar is reteaming with director William Brent Bell on the upcoming horror movie Orphan: First Kill. The prequel to Jaume Collet-Serra’s 2009 feature Orphan (scored by John Ottman) stars Isabelle Fuhrmann who reprises her role of the title character, as well as Julia Stiles, Rossif Sutherland, Matthew Finlan and Hiro Kanagawa. The film centers on Leena Klammer who orchestrates an escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. David Coggeshall (Prey) wrote the screenplay.
Alex Somers Scoring Mimi Cave’s ‘Fresh’
Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, Honey Boy, Dawson City: Frozen Time, Together, Together, Miss Americana, Aloha, Charm City Kings) has composed the original score for the upcoming thriller Fresh. The film is directed by Mimi Cave and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sebastian Stan, Jojo T. Gibbs, Charlotte Le Bon, Andrea Bang and Dayo Okeniyi. Lauryn Kahn (Ibiza) wrote the screenplay. The movie follows a young woman who accepts an invitation to an impromptu weekend getaway with her new boyfriend, only to find that her new paramour has been hiding some unusual appetites.
Ramin Djawadi Scoring Ruben Fleischer’s ‘Uncharted’
Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Eternals, Iron Man, A Wrinkle in Time, Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans, Prison Break) has recently been scoring the upcoming film adaptation of the video game series Uncharted. The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom, Zombieland) and stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle and Antonio Banderas. The action adventure follows a young street-smart Nathan Drake on his first treasure hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan in a dangerous pursuit of “the greatest treasure never found” while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.

Mark Bradshaw (Bright Star, Top of the Lake, The Daughter, Resistance) has composed the original music for the upcoming Australian supernatural horror thriller You Won’t Be Alone. The film is written and directed by Goran Stolevski and stars Sara Klimoska, Anamaria Marinca, Noomi Rapace, Alice Englert, Carloto Cotta and Félix Maritaud. The movie is set in an isolated mountain village in 19th century Macedonia and follows a young girl who is kidnapped and then transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit.

Carter Burwell (Fargo, Carol, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, True Grit, Twilight, In Bruges) has recently been scoring the upcoming British comedy Catherine, Called Birdy. The film is directed by Lena Dunham (Girls) and stars Bella Ramsey, Andrew Scott, Billie Piper, Joe Alwyn, Dean-Charles Chapman and Isis Hainsworth. The movie based on the 1994 children’s novel of the same title by Karen Cushman and follows adventures of a 14-year-old girl in medieval England as she navigates through life and tries to avoid the arranged marriages her father maps out for her.

The film marks the directorial debut of actresses Nicola Peltz (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel) & Bria Vinaite (The Florida Project) and stars Peltz herself, alongside Virginia Madsen, Richie Merritt, Trevor Long, Raven Goodwin and Luke David Blumm. The movie is set in middle America and revolves around the 19-year old title character who is working to save enough money to get her little brother out of their toxic home, when she she spirals into a drug addiction that threatens to consume her.

Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, The King’s Speech) has been tapped to score the upcoming French horror comedy Final Cut (Z (comme Z)). The film is written and directed by Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist, OSS 117) and stars Romain Duris, Bérénice Bejo, Grégory Gadebois, Finnegan Oldfield, Matilda Lutz and Raphaël Quenard. The movie is based on Shinichiro Ueda’s Japanese feature One Cut of the Dead and follows an abusive director of a low-budget zombie horror as he tries to inject energy and excitement into the project by unlocking a real-life ancient zombie curse.
