Composer Leo Birenberg (Cobra Kai, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, PEN15, Son of Zorn, Secret Society of Second-Born Royals) is reteaming with director Gabe Polsky (Genius, The Motel Life) on the upcoming western Butcher’s Crossing. The film starring Nicolas Cage, Fred Hechinger, Jeremy Bobb, Xander Berkeley, Rachel Keller & Paul Raci is set in the 1870s and tells the story of a buffalo hunter who lures a naïve young man into an ambitious expedition in the Colorado Rockies. Polsky also co-wrote the screenplay with Liam Satre-Meloy based on John Williams’ 1960 literary western.

Xander Rodzinski has revealed on his official website that he is the composer of the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eight episode of the upcoming Disney+ original series Willow. James Newton Howard is scoring the first three episodes of the show, which is developed by Jonathan Kasdan & Wendy Mericle based on Ron Howard’s 1988 feature of the same title and stars Warwick Davis, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Tony Revolori and Amer Chadha-Pate. The fantasy drama produced by Lucasfilm follows an unlikely group of heroes who set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.

The movie is directed by Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow, Wounds) and stars George MacKay, Percelle Ascott, Kelly Macdonald, Hugh Bonneville, Varada Sethu, Franc Ashman and Anthony Calf. The thriller centers on a graffiti artist who targets homes of the elite as he uncovers a secret in a hidden basement – triggering events that put his loved ones in danger.

James L. Venable (Scary Movie 3, 4 & 5, Samurai Jack, EuroTrip, The Powerpuff Girls) is returning as the composer of the upcoming comedy sequel Clerks III. The film is written and directed by Kevin Smith and stars Brian O’Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Trevor Fehrman, Jason Mewes, Austin Zajur, Rosario Dawson, Marilyn Ghigliotti, as well as Smith himself. The movie follows Randal who – after experiencing a massive heart attack – enlists his friends and fellow clerks to make a movie immortalizing his life at the convenience store that started it all. Smith is also producing the project with Liz Destro (Life of Crime, Lizzie) and Jordan Monsanto (Yoga Hosers).
Michael Giacchino to Score Brad Bird’s ‘Ray Gunn’
Brad Bird has confirmed in recent interview with THR that Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, The Batman, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jurassic World, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) will compose the original music for the director’s next animated feature, Ray Gunn. The movie is being described as a “detective film in an alternate future” and has been in development since 1990s. Bird (The Iron Giant) co-wrote the original screenplay with Matthew Robbins (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Mimic). Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars), David Ellison (Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Dana Goldberg (The Old Guard, The Tomorrow War) are producing the project for Skydance Animation.

The film is written and directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) and stars Keira Knightley, Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola, Morgan Spector, David Dastmalchian, Robert John Burke and Chris Cooper. The 20th Century Studios production tells the true story of Loretta McLaughlin, the first reporter to connect the infamous Boston Strangler murders in the 1960s and break the story.
